Inconsistant information According to the information with the TV,I would not need a convertor box,but the manager at Fred's store said that I would need one.Please let me know which is correct.I do not have cable nor satilite.

Yes you do. Not only do you need a convertor box but an antenna to connect to the convertor box. The convertor box will have to be plugged in and depending on the antenna it might have to be plugged in. This tv does allow and external antenna to be connected to it. This is where you will attach the convertor box with whatever adaptor you may need. The tv will need to remain on channel 3 at all times.

some convertor boxes remote will not work with certain tv's. it might just turned it on and off and that is it. or you would have to program it for your tv.

use an RF convertor if the TV dosn't have a/v inputs these convertors work off of CH3 and are available at most electronis stores or Walmart.

Yes it should work, connect the RCA video out (yellow connector DTV Converter) to the RCA video in (yellow connector TV set). Then connect the RCA Audio out (Red-Right White-Left DTV converter) to the RCA audio in (Red-Right White-Left TV set).

Then setup your converter box according to the manufacture's instructions.

if the tv has a cable ready hook up then it can produce digital the trick is if your tv have satellite or a cable service then you don't need the convertor box but if you don't have none of these services then you will need a convertor box and if you have service provider and the service gets cancelled then you will need the convertor box

These types of antennas are able to detect and automatically adjust to any changes in the TV signal strength you receive, and can generally be obtained through most major retailers. They primarily are used in areas where digital signals are weaker or somewhat inconsistent, and will attempt to optimize the signals they do receive before sending them to a TV or digital converter box.

Please keep in mind that while some DTV digital-to-analog converter boxes may have built-in Smart Antennas, this particular model (RCA DTA800) does not appear to have this feature.
