Is the drive clicking or making any weird noises? If this is the case, you won't be able to do anything with it unfortunately. It will need to go to a professional data recovery company.

Windows XP will not recognize Cooxpix S710

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa.

Take any jumpers off the drive. If there are none, check the data cable to make sure it's in the correct spot on the motherboard. Connecting it to a blue or white connector will do that.

My memory card said it needs to be reformatted, but that will delete all of my pictures? what am i supposed to do to get the pictures off the card, or fix the card

Does the camera still recognize the card? Like can you see the picture stored in the card using the camera's LCD display? If you can then use the USB cable that came with the camera and connect it to your computer. This way the camera will show up as an external drive in your computer and you should be able to copy the pictures from the camera to your computer.

My computer is not recognizing my PNY SD 1GB memory card. I can still take pictures and my camera saves them to the memory card, but when I try to transfer the pictures to my computer, it does not...

In this instance, you might want to consider either borrowing, or, purchasing and card sd reader. Some computers just don't read these cards from their built-in slots, so, using an sd card reader often fixes the problem.

Hope this helps. :)

I don't know how to download my pictures to my computer.

What you need to do here is to connect the camera to your computer via USB cable and wait until the computer recognizes it and when its already recognize you can now get pictures from the camera going to your computer.....
