IF SET HAS ERROR 9 THEN THE S1 and S2 board ARE PROBABLY THE REASON. DID YOU USE ORIGINAL SONY LAMPS ? GENERIC LAMPS (ESPECIALLY IN SONY) DON'T LAST. AND IS THE SET IN A CABINET ? I HAVE ALSO SEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE FANS GETTING DUSTY AND THE VENTS ON THE SIDE OF THE SET FILLED WITH DUST.

The green haze on this model is a factory defect.
Apparently most of the time the problem is caused by an optical block defect. Optical block is a very expensive part, and reapir will cost nearly same value of TV.
Here a forum on problem.
There is a class action that resulted in a partial settlement. Call sony and quote this document, you should be entitled to a total refund on optical block purchase, or to a big discount on a Sony replacement TV.
Do not forget to accept.

The service manual lists 3 blinks as the light cover not being secure. it has a micro switch behind the cover so if you hold down the switch you can see if this is the problem.
