I meant to say I need new remotes for the NuTone GA578. How much are gorage door openers these days installed ?

  • ssugden Jan 28, 2009

Wow you are in the right job. THought this was going to be a great site, but not with this attitude. I was tryoing to make a distinction between the remote and the opener itself. Didn;t know it made a difference. If I did, I wouldn;t be on this site would I.

Patience dude working with people. its great you know this stuff but other people are busy like I am as a single Dad, who just lost his Brother and his Father and can;t afford to keep the home. A replacement is assumed at all times for God sake.

Take care your going to need it.

Unit must be ancient. try sears for a universal radio control set. if unit is as old as i think, i would toss it and get a new one. you will not be able to get any parts for this unit and it does not have safety beams.

installed they can go for $300 -625, depending what part of country you are in and what model you chose, stay with craftsman/liftmaster/chamberlain , i do not like Genie.

  • marty metzger Jan 28, 2009

how many times you going to post this question. Nutone has not had openers in ages, so anything yu have is outdated, probably does not reverse upon hitting obstruction (illegal) and has no saftety beams. It probably has external radio controls, so like I said before, you can buy receiver and two remotes for over $100 and still have an anceinet unit. Buy something current and you will be able to buy parts should you ever need them.

  • marty metzger Jan 28, 2009

your going to need it? Do not know what you mean. Did you mean "you're" going to. Anyhow, sorry about your losses. You did not say that money is real tight. The point is, if you pour $100 into fixing this unit, the next time you need a part (internal, not an add-on like radio control) yu will be out of luck. You did not say what part of country you live in. I charge $425 for a real nice Liftmaster, my competition charges $625, and someone in upstate NY charges $325. Demographics. If you are handy and have a few hours, they are not hard to install. You still did not tell me what radio control you have. It is probably attached to motor; may be Pulsar, Multi-Code, etc. Get me the info and I will try to help you. I was upset because after I posted an honest answer (I do NOT get any money from Fixya, even though they mislead you into thinking you will get paid after answering 30 questions for free in 30 days (I did 125 in 3 days dude). They rip me off, so please tone down yur attitude because you are getting professional advice for free. You asked, I answered. You asked again. I knew you did not lose the garage openers (motors). You obviously lost the remotes. Get me the info I ask for and I will help. Again, sorry for yur losses.

I also have a nutone garage door systems and both remotes died.

I tried some universal remote at Lowes and it didn't work.

However, If you swap out the remote and the receiver unit, you can make it work. And it was cheaper than I thought ($40)

I got the Multicode brand and it worked great for me (You'll also need the wire adapters).

Are remotes still available for NuTone GA 575 Garage door openers?

as far as I know they are not. You have to put another type external receiver like a Multi-Code or etc. On it and then get a remote.. If it was me I'd replace it with a new Liftmaster.

I think you will need to check into a Sears Model #00953751000 or Chamberlain Model #R39663 universal remote control replacement kit.

Have a Nutone C75 garage door opener - but no remote - do you know where i can get a replacement remote opener?? Tks Gerry

I'm pretty sure these are no longer available. If your opener is in good shape otherwise you might want to check into one of these.

Chamberlain - Model #R39663

Craftsman - Model #00953751000

These are universal receiver and hand remotes that will connect to your opener and take the place of your old remote.

My belt broke on my model 139.655000 sears robust automatic garage door opener. I have misplaced the belt and don't know the length of the belt to buy a replacement. Do you know the belt i need?

The part number for this belt is STD303310 and is available from Sears for $4.49. I would almost bet you that any good door opener service company in the yellow pages would have one on the shelf.
