You need to contact Delonghi and order a part. This is the steam/water outlet assembly. This part includes an electronic solenoid which controls the water and steam output. I have had this problem 3 times. You may find the steam/ water is very loose when you try to wobble it sideways. This is the indication as to what is the problem, (as mentioned above).

I have a Delonghi Magnifica EAM3400 and have this problem. What is occurring is that the rubber seal or washer in the heater element is leaking. If you have an average knowledge of fixing things you can fix this yourself by replacing the rubber seal. I got mine at the local plumber for 50 cents.

It took me 2 hours the first time to fix. 45 mins the second. Piece of advice. There are a couple wires that you should mark upon disassembly so you don't plug them in the wrong spots upon reassembly.

Bobcatou--Thanks for the post. I'm having the same problem. Can you tell me how you got the front, top plastic piece off? The one with the knobs and buttons on it. I can't seem to find screws and while I think it may "pop" off, I hesitate to pry it. Or perhaps you found instructions online? Please post if you get a chance. Thanks.

John, You don't need to take that part off to get to the heater. Only parts that need to come off are the 2 side panels, back panel and the top. The side panels slide off and the top heater panel comes off with two exposed screws after you pull the side panels off. I made a very basic how to manual on how to fix this at this link if you want to check it out

    Good luck.

Water is leaking in the back of the machine. What needs to be done?

It's from hot water/steamer distributor. Must repair at once, cause can fault other things (printed circuit board)

Mr Coffee Pump Espresso machine not working. Lights alternately flash between coffee and steam icons, machine makes noise, but coffee does not brew, water does not flow, steam does not come out.

The espresso portion may be clogged with hard water deposits, and the steamer tube with casein. Run a tank of plain white vinegar a couple of times then run a couple of tanks of plain water to flush the vinegar, Open the steam valve while the espresso portion is running and set the steamer pot under the steamer. Don't be surprised if a long white tube of hard white material slides out of the steamer valve. That's the casein, actually a form of organic plastic.

Steamer does not work

Possible problems:
- no water
- heating element burned out
- switch defective
- leak in steamer system
If it's out of warranty you'll have to open open it up and test with a multimeter.

No pressure in machine. i can't get any decent water stream from coffee outlet; only rare drops. steamer works fine. Can you help me?

Their are four posible reasons for above problem as follows.
First the Vibarating pump not creating pressure, usaly if here the sound it is pressing but not always. You can loose the pipe nut after the pump to see if you have any pressure after you press the coffee button. Be carefull with the water leaking.
Second the coffee solenoid valve that is on the grouphead might be stuck from dry coffee, it can be removed and cleaned with hot water and a wire brush.
Third the coffee group shower and inside round dish might also blocked from dry coffee, remove it and clean it.
Finnaly the more difficult problem might be that boiler-thermoblock is full off scale. So you must remove and descale the thermoblock boiler and the copper pipes to them.
This problem is the more difficult to be performed however if the water you have use was very hard then this is the most posible.
Good luck,

Try opening the frothing valve by turning the dial and force water through it instead of steam by pressing the middle, coffee button. You may be experiencing vapor lock. Once the water comes through the steamer valve, turn the steamer knob off and release the coffee button. Then try the steamer button with the steamer dial open. This may do the trick.
