Question about Solis Crema SL-70 Espresso Machine

1 Answer

No more steam from my Solis SL-70

Good day Doc. No steam is coming out of my machine through the steam wand. The indicator light for "steam ready" does not come on either. Water will come out of the steam wand if the pump is turned on though.

Any suggestions ?

Thanx

Hi
You have a thermostat on top of the boiler that is out. There are 4 thermostats in top. The two you want to replace are the one in the center (136C)and the one towards the front(117C). The one in the center is a screw in thermostat and it holds a clamp that holds the others down. There is a fuse also, so make sure that when you put it back together the fuse is under the its clamp. You only have to remove the wires on the center thermostat until you need to remove the wires for the steam. That way you won't get them mixed up.
The top comes off by removing the screw on the top back where the water tank locks in. Once the screw is removed the put both hands on the side of the machine near the top and with your 2 index fingers push the top forward. This will push the top of the face plate forward also. The top of the face plate locks into the bottom of the front part of the top, so when you put it back together slip bottom of the face plate into the machine, then put the top on the face plate so the front of both is flush whit each other. Then push down and back on the top and it will lock in. then put the screw back in and your done. Contact 1-877-855-4540 for parts.

Solis crema sl 90 the steem is not work

Usualy this a goggle steam wand. So you can insert a thin steel wire in the seam wand and turn the steam knob slowly untill you see some steam come out. Keep move the steel wire and after you get the first steam try to boil a glass of water and leave it for ten minutes and then boil it again. This will clean the steam wand internaly.

My Solis crema sl-70. As soon as I switch the main switch on the indicator ligth for water ready to start the pump is always on but the water is cold

Hi
The first thing you should do is turn on the power, then the steam switch and see if you get any heat. If you do, then your brew thermostat is bad and needs to be replaced. If you still don't get any heat, there are a couple of things that might be wrong. 1. Your heating element might be bad. Check it with an ohms meter. The terminals should read 12 to 16 ohms. If no reading, replace the boiler. If the boiler is good then the center thermostat is bad. Its a 138C thermostat. The thermostat in the back is a 92C brew thermostat. The front one is a steam 127C and the one on the left side is a 156 high limit thermostat. The center thermostat is a screw in thermostat and holds the others in. Take a picture of the wiring before disassembly. To get the top off there is a screw in the top center back. Remove, then put your hands on the top side of the machine and with your fingers push the top forward.

Steam knob keeps turning around-and no steam

Sounds like you have a striped knob and your valve is frozen. You will have to replace your steam manifold and valve.

Solis pallazo rapid steam. I can't remember how to clean the system

Descaling the Palazzo: The Palazzo is programmed to descale the boilers on its own, when set in the correct mode. You program the machine to descale it's self, do the following. With the machine turned on, push and hold the left 2 buttons (clean and pre-ground). This should light the top right red indicator light. Mix your descaling crystals in 32 to 48 oz in your water tank. Stir until they are completely dissolved in the water. Next, have a container that can handle about 2 quarts of water under the steam wand, or have the machine positioned next to a sink. Next open the steam knob on the right side of the machine. You should hear the pump turn on and pump about 2 to 3 oz's. of water through the wand into the container. The pump should turn off and there will be a wait of about 2 minutes. The pump should turn on again and more water will come out. It will do this until it has completely drained the water tank. Do not interrupt this cycle until the machine has stopped on its own. When it does stop, all lights on the bottom will flash. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water. Place the water tank on the machine again, and then close, and then open the steam knob again and let the water just flow through the boilers until it is emptied by the machine. Don't turn off anything until the machine stops on its own. This will clear the descale light. Refill the water tank again with fresh water and your ready to go.

Solis Crema SL90 NO HEAT

Hi
There can be a couple of things. The heating element could be bad. Check with an ohms meter. 12 - 16 ohms between the element terminals. You could have a bad power board. There is a solder connection that seperates and can be resoldered. Look for a small bulls eye where 3 solder connections make a triangle in the top left side. A little heat and new solder can fix it sometimes but don't put too much solder on or you will short the connections. If this doesn't fix the problem you need a new board.

Solis Palazzo coffee coming out weak & cold, water from nozzle is hot! Any ideas??

HI
There could be other things wrong but usually when the water temp goes down, its because you are starting to get scale build up in the boiler. This insulates the water from the heat. What do you have your water hardness set on. It should be set on the max, with all the lights lit. Check it by pushing and holding the small cup and water buttons. While holding them down, turn on the machine. Release the buttons and your ready to program the machine. Water hardness. The pre-ground button sets the water hardness. Push the pre-ground button (scoop) and the lights at the top of the panel should light up one at a time from left to right.. Always set the hardness to the max. Turn on all the lights on top. The machine will tell you when to descale. It’s better to descale more often than not enough.

Turn the foam knob, nothing happens most of the time. If I leave it open, it will pizzle and fizzle warm, low pressure air that takes 7 minutes to warm milk to 160 degrees. Bah! I miss my lattes!!!

Hi
That sounds like your Steam thermostat needs to be replaced. There are 4 thermostats on the SL70. The rear one is your brew thermostat (92c), the one in the front is your steam thermostat (117c). The one in the center is over temp thermostat, (136c) and it screws in to hold the other thermostats in place with a thermal fuse held also. You need the 117c thermostat and maybe the 136c also. You will also need an new O-ring for the steam wand.

Trouble installing replcement gasket in Solis Crema SL 70

SL 70/90 Brew Head Gasket Replacement Time 1 to 2 hrs Tools # 2 allen wrench # 1 Phillips screw driver # 2 Phillips screw driver # 13mm wrench First unplug the machine. Next remove the screw in the top back of the machine. Push the top forward with your fingers. This unlocks the top and it can be placed behind the machine with the wire connected. Next rotate the steam knob counter clockwise till it stops. Inside next to the micro switch there is a brown cam. On the backside of the cam is the #2 allen screw. Loosen this screw and the rotate the steam knob clockwise until it is removed. Now remove the clip on the steam manifold that holds the steam wand. There may be a plastic tie that is securing the clip. Cut it. Pull out the steam wand and let it rest on the bottom cover. Next remove the 4 large screws that hold the cover plate around the brew head. This will allow the cover plate to drop down and swivel on the steam wand, exposing the nuts that hold the boiler on the bottom metal plate. The nuts that hold the boiler on are # 8. Before you loosen the nuts you need to remove the water inlet nut on the side of the boiler. It is a #13 wrench. Remove the water line. Now remove the nuts that hold the boiler on.
