HC-P4752W Blue Convergence??

I have a Samsung HC-P4752W rear projection TV that i purchased as Sam's club a couple of years ago. I have had some odd problems that might be related. The first thing is the auto focus doesn't work very well. I've noticed that with using a DVD player on the AV input, the convergence is sometimes really bad. For example, the lower right might be close but the upper left would really off. Eventually it will look okay if you force it to auto focus multiple times. Sometimes it fails and says to turn down the lights and try again. That message would appear even when the room was dark. Usually all you had to do was try the autofocus again. 2nd problem is every once in a while the tv will just shut off by itself. The only solution is to unplug it and plug it back in. It doesn't happen that often but enough to be worried that something is wrong. Lastly, which is the reason i'm submitting this problem is last night i turned the TV on and the blue was all messed up. The bottom 1/2 of the tv was okay but the top 1/2 was curved (or bowed) in the center. If you are viewing a completely blue screen, there is a black curve or semi-circle at the top. Or, if you watch credits scrolling on the screen with white type on a black background, about 1/2 way up the screen the blue starts to separate from the white letters and the blue only makes it up about 3/4 of the screen in the middle (due to the curve down). Hope i'm explaining this okay. Anyway, the first thing i was thinking of trying is replacing the convergence module and seeing if that fixes it. Would that be the correct course to follow? My thinking is all those problems could be related to a failing convergence module. thanks for any suggestions! p.s. is there anyway to do a manual focus instead of the auto focus?

I know this is a silly question, but where would i find the convgence module and the mentioned ICs and resistors? Would i need to get a service manual in order to locate it or is it pretty easy to get to?

I just wanted to let everyone know that i replaced the 2 STK392-010 ICs (it was a pain to get the SUB board out) and it fixed the problem! All is good now and thanks for your help.

The problem I came across is similar to all others it looks like the people on the screen are doubled. Could I fix this myself or what is the least expensive way?

I have the same problem with the same model. I bought the ICs and removed the board, but the ICs are cemented and screwed to some large metal stands. I have easily desoldered the ICs themselves, but the pins for the stands are not just soldered, but have some sort of clamp attached to them. If you have experience on removing the ICs from these, please help. If not, please help me find part no. BP41-00070A (the PCB59A SUB board for this model). Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a double image with the red showing a curve at the top and relatively straight on the bottom. I am not a repair man and would like to know if this is something I can fix myself? how and where would I get the parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Add select under the cover on the remote saves convergence settings but you have to save all three colors seperately, mute 183 takes you to the convergence service menu and 1 is factory 2 is something and 3 is last setting 7 is red 8 is green and 9 is blue you have to hit add/delete on each color and the screen should say data saved

You can replace the whole board, or opt to replace just the 2 IC's and a resistor or 2 that has probably failed. Lift the chassis & inspect the pins of the 2 IC convergence chips for hair line cracks around them. Inspect the small resistors out in front of the IC's for discoloring or burnt look compared to other similar resistors. The convergence board will cost much more than having the above repaced. Chips about fifeteen a piece, resisters .50 cents each plus shipping. Convergence board $100 plus.

Mute 1 8 3 on the remote gets into the service menu on the 4752 samsung. I havent figured out how to get congergence settings to save from teh service menu. Pressing "enter" on the remote is supposed to save the settings, but doesn't appear to. Once you exit the service menu and go back in the convergence is back to it's starting location.

I have a Samsung HC-P4752W and see yellow and bllue halos.

Have you tried to use the convergence function on the TV? If that has not fixed this issue then you have bad convergence IC chips. These chips are microprocessors that align the blue and red tubes with the green (which is stationary). This converges the three tubes to create the image that you see. Failure of these chips (usually from heat over time) is a common problem with projection  TVs. The chips are not very expensive; from $35-60 for the pair. Replacing them involves some tedious desoldering of the old ones and soldering in the new ones. If you have some experience with electronics and soldering it is not hard. Shops will charge $300 and up for this repair. If you want to do it your self post a comment bnack here and I can assist you further.

Yes the HC-P4252W and the HC-P4752W are both P59A chassis so they both use the two STK392-010 Convergence amp iCs that are located on the sub deflection board
