Question about Panasonic RR-US360 Digital Voice Recorder

2 Answers

Just installed my RR-US360 Voice Studio 2.0 into my new Dell inspiron 1525 with MS Vista Home Professional platform. Installation went fine, however when I attempted to upload a recording onto my lap top I get message from all drives that the drive is "media write protect" and it will not upload the recording. Any fixes available that will make my recorder compatable with Dell/Vista ?? Thanks in advance for your help. John

I to had this problem with legacy versions to present - good news there is a way
first create a share on your machine or network
grant the user full permissions to it
map a network drive to that share (local or network)
edit the Alias.dat file - C:\prog..\Panasonic\Voice Editing\Alias.dat and replace the xxxxx_x with your new mapped drive letter

Now import the following HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry entries
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Panasonic\Voice Studio]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Panasonic\Voice Studio\Profile]
"Sound Drive"="XXXXX_X\\"
"PVC SaveFolder"="XXXXX_X\\Save_Audio_As\\PVC_Files\\Saved\\SD_VOICE"
"Import PVC Filename"="XXXXX_X\\Save_Audio_As\\PVC_Files\\Saved\\PVC_Mail_File1.pvc"
"PVC Filename"="PVC_Mail_File1"

Also note that you may need to create all the folders stated above that follow the mapped drive letter path.

Now open the voice software and add the virtual drive mapping to the menu that will populate each panels drop down box - if this option if not done so already

This method has worked for all panasonic voice editing pro 1 and 2 and Voice studio 2.x with all permission account types

The reason this happens is because of the permissions on the local machine - if you are not admin you cannot use it - however lately even admin accounts are producing the same issue - the above workaround works for secured stdrd permission accounts and admin accounts (some Profile access pending)

Known inconveniences for this method are as follows:
when openning and converting device recorded media to the PC, you need to use the bottom pane to access the share for PVS 2.x and the top pane for PVE Pro 2

hope this helps
Im still trying to resolve this in a more simple fashion

The reason it happens is because the permissions security on the hardrive is not permitted for that type of device access - some legacy security machines may be ok with admin privelages but not these recent ones.

Also, it may take some tweaking pending the flavor of panasonic editor or studio software you are using - contact me if you need more details

My Panasonic RR-US360 software is not compatable with MS VISTA.
So the problem can't be solved until either Panasonic or MS comes up with a fix.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Just installed my RR-US360 Voice Studio 2.0 into my new Dell 1525

I have herd that there is a driver option but i have installed all the drivers and granted privleages for them for various device models and they do not correct this - they also state to uninstall and reinstall - after 5 times for each device i realized panasonic support and tech advise generic brush offs!
i have a work around and it is located here:

its a little involved but it does work! for any account type that isnt 100% locked down - but its a workaround and thats all and a total pain in the **** if you have to support a variety of them packaged in a network environment like i do :-S

I am suggesting that our devices for these types of requirements be investigated and panasonic removed from the environement as a result of their unwillingness to address this matter for the past few generations and models of these devices

Download recordings to VISTA Dell portable

Many people are having Vista issues with their Panasonic voice recorders. I am one of them.

To answer your question, you will either have to buy a different voice recorder or download its contents to a non-Vista computer. The Panasonic website's support section states that the US360 is not compatible with Vista, and no patches exist to change this.

In my model, the RR-US430, the problem is that I am running 64-bit Vista. If my operating system was 32-bit, I could download a patch and fix the problem. But in 64-bit, there is no solution that I, or apparently Panasonic, know of. Should anyone know how to use a US430 with 64-bit Vista, please email the information to

Again though: I'm sorry to say, but your model is just not compatible with Vista whatsoever.
