I've rebuilt the laptop and it can't detect the wireless card. then I installed the latest driver, this time I was able to see it under the device manager, however it still does not work. the light for wireless connection not light on and it just does not work.

Actually, you have to make sure you click on it to make sure that it's activated and it has a good connection to whatever it's going to, by the way you have to make sure it's the right card for the right system. It's like a car, you can't put any old engine in it but...it has to fit right.

Try downloading the latest audio driver from the Toshiba WEB site. You can download the audio and device drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from their download page. Try installing the latest wireless card driver. You can download the wireless and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Try downloading the latest drivers from Toshibas site If that fails, open the base of the laptop (should be a cover there), check that the wireless card is installed and the two wires that attach on push posts are present and attached. One is black (main) the other white (aux).
In device manager, check that the wireless hardware is detected, if it is not seen and the card is presnt and connected, the wireless controller has failed, or the card itself is damaged and will need replacing.

The T30 laptops do not have a on/off button that turns the wireless card on.
Once the wireless card driver is installed the wireless card will detect any wireless router and access point within its range. You need to configure the wireless card to connect into the wireless router or access point eg. the encryption, SSID etc.
The Thinkpad laptops have different wireless LAN cards installed, when you install a wireless card driver and it doesn't work, then install a different model wireless card driver. Also make sure the XP or Vista version of the wireless driver matches the Windows version that is installed on the laptop.
Possibility one: defective wireless card. Possibility two: improperly installed card driver.
Possibility three: wrong card driver
Possibility four: device conflict with card
For possibility four, does the card stop working when you use another device on your machine? Try disconnecting all other connected devices outside of the laptop (printers, scanners, webcams, MP3 players, etc) and see if the issue goes away. Keep us posted.

There are different wireless modem cards, in different laptops.
Try This:- go to MyComputer/Control Panel/System/Device manager. if you have any yellow exclamation marks by any of the devices, then they are not functioning correctly. either re-install the driver. Or uninstall reboot the computer, when the hardware wizard detects the device, you will get options to search/ re-install driver et,c.
You don't have the right driver, finding the right wireless driver can be a pain. Open the panel on the bottom and get the make and model of the wireless card. Then go to Lenovo's support site and read what card each driver covers, find the driver for that specific card and install it. If it still doesn't work, go to driverguide.com and search for the driver by the wireless card make and model. At this point, if the card still isn't working, then you may need a new card.
check in device manager, is your wireless card detected in device manager ?
if not, it's look like your wireless card is defective.
if yes but there is question mark, you need to re-install wireless driver.
if yes, and it isnot detect any network, is wireless card in your device manager enable ? if disable, right click on wirelees card and choose enable.
if step above not working, try to enable using wireless switch .
