It seems the Dell Inspiron 2200 DC in power jack connector coming loose is a common problem with this laptop, unfortunately. If you want to try it yourself, grab a copy of the service manual which will guide you through the process of taking it apart (as well as putting it back together). Once you have the motherboard out, check the solder points on the bottom of the circuit board. On one I worked on, there was practically no solder left, but the jack itself was solid. Be careful with the soldering process, because there's an RV1 component too close to the power jack's pins and you can easily dislodge it if your soldering iron / tool isn't precise enough. If things go well, and the solder goes where it's supposed to, that should fix it.
Some people replace the jack entirely - a call you'll have to make yourself.
