Will not start - Seems to be stuck on Half Load & Economy Cycle

The dishwasher won't start today! I loaded it, switched it on but it is stuck on the previous setting from a few days ago of Half Load & Economy Cycle. On the far right hand side of the control panel there is a flashing light next to the 2nd icon down but as I do not have the manual I am not too sure what this is but it is 3 vertical lines with one horizontal line underneath. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have swtiched the dishwasher off at the wall but when I plug it back in the problem is still there. I've also taken half of the dishes\plates out in case it was too packed but this hasnt made any difference. Thanks for any help

Hi, my Siemens iq500 dishwasher cuts out mid cycle usually towards the second half of the cycle, it switches off and some times the display indicates the period of time remaining of the incomplete cycle....

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

It sounds like you had a bad thermostat and then blew the thermal fuse.

These parts are in the back of your washer, The thermal fuse is on you hot air duct and your thermal fuse is on the opposite side.
It could look like the following:

Dishwasher not running through entire wash cycle

If I understand right, you saying no/little water is entering the washer?

First, look for the float switch valve.
Here's an example of what you're looking for:

It's the item in the lower right, with the spoon stuck under it.
If this float is stuck/hung-up in the UP position, it won't allow water to flow, as it senses that the water level is already at maximum.

Try to lift yours and see if it freely drops back down on it's own.
Sometimes they get gummed up and stick, or get pulled up and tilted a little, or have something (like a spoon) stuck under them.

My frigidaire professional series dishwasher has no power

Hello qmainous - The issue may lie with the door latch; a door switch is used to start and stop your dishwasher. It's a safety feature that won't allow water to flow with the door open. With a faulty door switch, there is a chance your dishwasher won't start at all. Dishwasher door switches are about an inch long. They are usually black but can be red. There are metal prongs on the body of the switch called terminals. Some door switches have two terminals and some have three. If your door switch is OK, check the timer assembly. This controls when and how long power is sent to other controls on your dishwasher. If these controls don't receive power, they won't work. The timer assembly contains a motor. Check this motor as well. It is often cheaper just to replace the timer motor rather than the complete assembly. My last suggestion is to check the cycle selector switches. These switches indicate cycles for washing, drying, and setting the temperature of the water. If one of your switches is the problem your dishwasher may also prevent the unit to start. Dishwasher cycle selector switches tell the timer which cycle to run by opening and closing electrical circuits. Most selector switches are six to eight inches long. They are usually black and have terminals. By testing each one of these parts with an ohmmeter you should be able to determine why your dishwasher is not working. It is possible for other parts to fail but these are the most common parts to check. If any proves to be ineffective, I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

Maytag dishwasher starts too easily and gets stuck in wash cycle

see this causes and fix it. God bless you

Float Switch

The float switch may be hung up and this can cause the dishwasher to be stuck in a cycle. Check the tutorial and the video for checking this part.

Timer / Control

If your dishwasher gets stuck in a cycle first try shutting off the breaker for at least 5 minutes if this does not correct the problem you will need to replace the timer / electronic control.

The normal and economy lights are blinking and cannot get to wash through a full cycle. water is in the bottom of the washer

You will have to check if the dishwasher is stuck in the drain cycle or wash cycle.

The normal and economy lights flashing means there is flooding in the unit.

Reset the unit by pressing START button for 4 secs. If the flashing does not stop then you have to call the technician. There may be a leakage which is causing the flood switch to activate.

Dishwasher says dishes are clean but is still stuck in cycle. tried resetting the breaker but no luck. the green light that goes on when clean is constantly flashing but dishwasher is non-responsive. any...

Some dishwashers have some sort of float switch. They can stick , try rocking dish washer if stuck mid cycle, I would make sure the food collect grid at bottom is clear, try flushing machine through with an empty load now and then, you can buy stuff for cleaning dishwasher insides too.

Takes two and a half hours to run a load of dishes

They probably aren't running the hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher. You know how it takes time to get hot water at the tap when you turn it on? well the new dishwashers use such little water, that they will fill with cold/warm water, and try to heat it up to 170+ degrees before continuing the cycle

Pump Runs On After Water Is All Drained Out?

If the cycle does not stop draining that is usually because of a faulty water level switch that controls the water level in your appliance.
The faulty sensor cause the machine to think that there is still water inside, even when water has drained completely.
Check if the floating sensor is stuck or faulty.
Some machine may use a membrane switch instead of a floater.
