Go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set. Make sure the phone wire which you insert in fax machine getting proper dial tone and getting out going calling facility. Hope this helps. Please rate my response. Thanks. Have a good day.
Sometimes these machines will give you automatic messege "Recieve."
If this is only plugged in the fax machine, can you hear the machine dialing or hear the machine recieving a dial tone?.
Some machines have the audio sound turned off, so it is quiet when the machine is doing fax transmissions to limit the noise.
If you can turn it on you can make this eaisier to resolve. If it is on then you can make this more simplier.
Make sure the settings are set right, Junk mail turned off, set up the fax answer mode to print, and not store, check to see if the auto confirmation can be turned on. When this mode is turned on for this process at least you can get a print out on the fax copy, some will give an error messege.
If you can put an analog phone into the fax line, use another phone to call that number and see if it rings. This will ensure the phone line is working well.
If this line has a phone line converter, digital to analong, this may cause some of the issues. More and more people are trying to use the internet as their phone line as a fax.
I would like to know if any of this resolved the problem. There are more questions I have to this type of problem.
The instruction manuals of fax machines are typically large and complex books. Often there are many options to consider. Mostly the machines can be used successfully without much reference to the manual but when there is a problem the question machine or operator fault can only be determined by thoroughly reading it.
To a large extent whether a fax call is picked up or not depends on the settings (including answering machine), the quality of the phone line and connection and the machine sending the fax as well as the receiving machine.
My fax machine will mostly automatically receive a fax but it seems to miss the important ones and I have to answer the ringing phone, hear the fax tone and press the manual fax button.
I strongly suspect the problem mostly lies with the sending machines - if they are fax machines the results were much better than from a computer being used as a fax machine and while a fax machine will send a receipt, a computer doesn't seem capable of doing so.
Have you gotten and old telephone and plug it in where the fax goes and see (hear) if you have any problems with a good dial tone and phone line? Does your phone line go near any high power a/c units big motors, mite think about a ferrite core for the fax/phone line. hav ATT or other carrier check your line. Also check your own line when ATT does it there check is only to the location not inside the house. Does your sure protector protect your phone line, really good sureg protectors protect Power lines fax lines!!! and in some case network lines
First only plug the line in the LINE socket otherwise it wont receive.
Manual receive will probably be the best as conflict may occur with the answering machine and the fax. You will either not receive faxes or messages. Its a bit of a pain as you will have to be home to receive faxes. eg pick up the handset and press start.
Its the easiest. Unless you want to fiddle with both machines settings to use the fax/telephone mode.
The sleep mode is only a power save mode. You may not have the machine in the correct fax receive mode. If the machine is on a line by itself it needs to be set to fax only, if line is shared with a telephone it needs to be in fax/telephone, if you share the machine with an answering machine it needs to be in TAD mode, and so forth.
Each time you press the MODE key it will change the receive mode. Most people hit this key by mistake and change the MODE and the unit will not pick up calls. Press the MODE key until you are in the correct mode.
To make sure the machine will print, press reports and then the 1, this will print a help list. If the help list prints you know that the machine works. Then check to make sure the machine is in the correct fax receive mode.
