Was something wrong with Netgear USB adapdor. I purchased new Belkin adaptor and prob is sorted. Thanks for your help

I presume you mean the WNR1000 Wireless Router. Free PDF Manaul at the link below.

Below is what you need to know to connect your PCs.

To access the Setup Wizard installation and configuration program on your router:

Connect your router to a computer by plugging one end of an Ethernet Cable into any of the four LAN ports on the back of your router.
Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
To install your router, simply click on the "Setup Wizard" link at the top of the left-hand navigation menu once you are logged into your router.

NETGEAR WPN111 Smart Wizard auto-shut down

Download the latest drivers, wpn111 3.0 from netgear website, install, restart, if problem persist;
open control panel, add hardware, manually install the device drivers, usually the list it shows you has a yellow mark. After doing this you should be able to open and follow the instructions.

I had the same problem and this it solved it.

1. Try deleting Cookies, Temp Files and restart computer
2. Download the files again and try installing it.
3. Still Same Issue, try different browser.
4. Still no Luck, Restart computer in safe mode with networking and download the software again.

The CD for Netgear devices provide a network connection wizard or documentation for the product. Netgear.com is very good about providing this on their website. You can search for your model and download the information there.

not sure exactly why you would need the setup software... you should be able to plug it in and access the routers firmware and set it up that way.
