Question about Sony KDS-R50XBR1 50" HDTV
I have had this Sony sXRD 50" TV mfor just under 3 years. Just under a year old i had the "Green Blob" Got it repaired. About a year and a half later got the Red light indicator that the lamp was blown. I replaced the lamp 2 months later I had the same indicator light (lamp blown Again) This time the repair company said replaced the Q box, Antenae switch and lamp. I tried arguing with the extended service contract company and Sony to replace the TV with no luck. I am very frustrated to be without a TV now 3 times for over 70 days total. I am supposed to get my TV back at the end of this week. Do I have any other recourse.? Fortunately I have not needed to pay for service but just want a working TV.
Here's the best way to get Sony's and/or the extended warranty company's attention and possible help.
Send an old fashioned letter to Sony and your extended warranty provider outlining the problems and your concerns regarding your TV. Make sure to prominently indicate that a copy of the letter is being sent to the complaint division at the attorney general's office in your state. After having to settle claims surrounding their optical block (light engine) issues Sony now understands that failure to address their customer's complaints may result in another judgement against them.
