Re: toaster oven just stopped working...

With mine, the toaster function stopped working. The light lit, but the relay did not click. This happened about a year ago, but then it started working again. Now that my waranty expired, it seems permanent.

The relay requires 12V, but I only measure 5V (no audible click). When I pulled the relay, the drive went up to 12V, so the coil is loading down the source. Not sure whether the problem is the coil or the source. It would be nice to find a schematic. When I put the relay across a car battery, I heard the click indicating that the relay is working.

I cleaned the contacts, and get the same result.

Re: toaster oven just stopped working...

The contacts for these toasters fail. The plasic cam that depresses the contacts also can melt. The design is poor and no replacement parts are available. When selecting a setting, if the selection is not exactly perfect, the contacts arc and eventually fail. Unless cuisinart changes the selection cam to a solid state or relay, this failure will continue to happen during normal use. If your unit works properly do not switch the function setting while heating, this will cause the contacts to arc and erode the contact surface. This posting is applicable to the TOB-30BC, TOB-30BCC and probably all TOB-30XXX models.

My black & decker tro964 is not heating

That may sound like a stupid question, but is it plugged in?
Have you tried to plug in the toaster on a different power outlet?
If there is a ground fault switch where the toaster is plugged in (that's those outlets which have 2 buttons on the front, one labeld "Test" the other usually labeled "Reset") unplug the toaster and push the "Reset" button and try the toaster again. To test, if the power outlet, were the toaster is usually plugged in, is working, try a hair dryer or any other device on that outlet.
Its most likely cheaper to replace the whole toaster than to replace the heating elements, for about 40 $ since that's the price of your toaster on some websites.

I have an Oster toaster oven 6260. Looks very clean. My son got it at a garage sale. Day 1 worked fine. Day 2 plugged in doesn't go on no matter what knobs are turned. Tried different outlets. ...

It is possible that the controller switch or the trigger is absent so that the coils do not get the power from the mains circuit. it will be best if you can remove the mains plug and start tracing with a multimeter in continuity range( ohms) so that the connection is confirmed.
Once it is found that the switch does not switch on the power or has lost the connection even when it is put to the ON position then you can salvage the swittch from the older toaster to be fixed on.
If the coils have opened it can also be checked with the meter , specially since you have one top element working.
So using the inventory of the two toasters you can get one working.

I had a house with old funky wiring. I'm pretty sure it caused me to blow a fuse in my toaster oven. Can you tell me where the fuse is located?

The manual mentions nothing about any user serviceable fuse or reset. "Funky" wiring in your home shouldn't cause an appliance to fail. Wiring that is in poor condition usually results in blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers in the service panel, heat in places it shouldn't happen and of course, fires.

It is very possible that the outlet is worn to the point that it doesn't make very good contact with the toaster's plug and has caused the toaster to fail to heat up. Try removing the toaster to a different outlet and try again. Check the original outlet with another appliance or lamp, etc. to see if it works or not. Also, check to be sure any ground fault outlet hasn't tripped.

If the toaster fails to work as expected in another outlet, there's little you can do to repair without jeopardizing your safety - especially if you're not familiar with appliance repair. These appliances aren't really meant for disassembly - manufacturers don't want to be liable for "repairs" that end with injuries, burns and death so the make them pretty hard to take apart. Even if you are successful, they make even harder to reassemble without it looking obvious that it has been disassembled.

Take it apart if you want - learn about how it works and buy a new one. These devices don't rely on rocket science and the controls are pretty simple - but it is an electrical device and electricity isn't a hobby. Be safe. Be smart.

BTW - I don't want your money - I just don't want you to get hurt.

Goiod luck!

Top element not working all wires are connected

Very possible the element on top has a break some where but maybe small enough you cant see it or could be hiden. If you have access to a multimeter put it to ohms and with it unplugged from the outlet take the wires off the element and check the element itself if the multimeter reads OL the element is bad.

Krups FBC2 Convection Toaster Oven Simply no power at all.

Having a toaster oven and a coffee maker on the same circuit is asking the breaker to trip in the house electrical panel, but I guess that you have learned the drill: only one appliance on at a time. Try moving the oven to the working side of the socket (the two socket sections can be spit apart and power each half from a separate house breaker and wiring). If the oven now works, check for a tripped breaker in the house panel. If the oven still doesn't work, look for a reset button near the cord entry point. Many heating type appliances have a thermal fuse that opens when things get too hot, but you need to get inside the cover where the cord enters.

I have Toast-R-Oven TRO200 and it just stop working. The light indicating the toaster or oven is being used does not come on.I plug it into other working outlet and it is still not working.

You probably have a switch in the oven that has failed or a broken wire. These are basically the only reason it wont come on. The best bet is if it is old buy a new one or see how much it would cost to repair. Usually the cost to repair is almost as much as the cost of a new one and getting parts can sometimes take two or more weeks.

I would check the cord or the plug before anything else. Plug another appliance into the outlet if it works try bending the male plugs on the cord slightly and try again. If this doesnt work call the man.

4 slice toaster blows fuse when toaster uses 4 burners

You will need to move it to a different outlet that is not on the circuit that you are using or just toast 2 slices at a time.
