Question about HP Photosmart Premium C309A All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Need to remove piece of shredded paper stuck in the c309a ADF but can't unscrew the screws.

The feeder grabbed the paper and kept feeding it, thus mangling the sheet and making it impossible to 'remove gently' as HP instruct. I can't get into the feeder to retrieve the bits.... The same thing happened a few years ago and the HP technician couldn't get in either. They replaced the machine. Do you have any suggestions? I've tried feeding another bit through, pushing a card through, trying to dig the bits I can see out with a safety pin etc. So for no luck.

SOURCE: My HP printer paper get stuck in top feeder whenever I try to fax

Lift the cover to the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) and remove any paper debris from the rollers. Also, clean the rollers with a very damp cloth and a dab od dish washing detergent.
Also, check to see that the spring loaded lever is in place.

Clear the jam from the automatic document feeder (ADF)

  1. Make sure the product is turned off and the power cord is unplugged.
  2. Grasp the upper edge of the automatic document feeder (ADF) assembly and open it.
  3. Raise the roller assembly.
  4. Gently remove any jammed paper from the ADF.
  5. Lower the roller assembly.
  6. Close the ADF assembly.
  7. Plug the power cord back into the product.
  8. Press the Power button (c01346625.gif ) to turn the product on.
  9. Try the print job again.

SOURCE: HP office jet feeder won't work when trying to fax

the little pieces of plastic are the sensor flags which is why it will not feed, those are required to let the machine know that the paper is present in the feeder. No flag no feed. Look at the plastic thing try to figure out where it goes in the feeder if you look close, you will see a spot where they go.

it's probably due to what i would call the print head blocker ( on your left handside of your printer head) that is broken . check it out! it also responsable to control how far goes the sheet before start printing.

SOURCE: The automatic document feeder doesn't grab the

Generally, you could clean the document feed rollers with WD-40, or a platen cleaner, but better yet, you should replace the pads and feed roller and I think you could do it yourself with my roller kit:

look inside the printer, some where in or around where the paper feeds from the area there is a piece of paper that is stuck or has ripped off inside the machine, you going have to look with flashlight follow the feed rollers and you will find paper, paper clip, a staple, dirt, something blocking the rollers or feeder from working right.

We bought an used Canon NP7130F and it didn't come with an user manual and we can't figure out how to get the auto feed to work. We put a piece of paper in the top feeder and it starts to grab it but then...

Unfairly, that feeder has it's own issuse's > it was a very bad design from Canon > It works really good or not at all.... There is a tech pub for a new drive motor for the doc feed belt & new sensors for the paper path..... It may also, be that it needs new adf feed rollers..... Did it work before you got it? If soo, I'd call the person you got it from and have them fix it. Or you can call a service person. The copier is a tad bit old....... Good Luck

When I try to fax something before the paper feed all the way though the alarm sounds and a message says doc in adf. how can I fix this problem

It sounds like there's debris stuck in the ADF. Try blowing it out with a can of compressed air. After time, paper dust will accumulate in the feeder and occasionally block a sensor. Once clear it should work. If not, there is probably a small piece of paper lodged in the feeder. If this is the case, try using a paper clip to feel around inside the feeder to poke loose any fragments.

How to clear adf paper jam?

adf is the top part of the printer from where you feed the paper for copying. adf is automatic document feeder. open the top cover and see if there is any paper in it, remove the paper and close it again and it will reset the paper jam.if it doesn't reset then there could be a small piece of paper stuck somewhere.

Ep1083 copier

If the machine sees the ADF ( auto document feeder) but does not feed the paper? Does it try to feed the paper? Does it pull the paper is a little and jam? If the machine sees the ADF and it starts to feed the paper but jams --- clean the feed rollers/ tires with rubber restorer or a high alcohol base cleaner. Also a mylar could be pulled into the paper path blocking the feeding of the paper. Take a thin piece of cardboard ( like the devider in a case of pop) and slide the cardboard about 3- 6 inches into the feed just past the feed roller. Gently pull back out and try to feed paper again. If those do not work and the machine does see the ADF, you may need switch, sensor, actuator or feed motor.

Jam in the document feeder

I think I found my answer. You don't have to un do any screws. Lift up the cover to the automatic feeder. You will see a spring on the side of the mechanism towards the front; remove the spring; that will allow you to lift up the little arm the spring was attached to and remove the roller or bar and the light blue/green plate just under it. Then you will be able to see the jammed paper, which which I was able to carefully pull out with a pair of tweezers. Some was under rubber rollers, but when I pulled the paper sideways it slipped out. Now it works!

ADF document feed

Hi, The problem seems to be a piece of debris , paper stuck in the ADF roller assy. You can check this by opening up the adf cover and inspecting the paper path. I have seen where a very small peice can cause paper path problems to where something is blocking the paper> Good Luck!

I place a stack of originals in the ADF and press Copy or Scan. There is a sound of a motor running, a pause, and then the motor running again. The paper is supposed to feed during this second phase but does not always feed. For me, it would fail to feed, ask me to clear the ADF, and press "OK" a random number of times and then suddenly it would work once or twice and then fail again.

I am a retired engineer and my feeling was that if could work properly even once, then it should work every time. The problem must be something intermittant relating to temperature, humidity, age, etc. It must be easily fixed.

The rear of the ADF has a silver-grey plastic piece which covers the feed motor and gears. You gain access by removing the one Phillips screw, opening the lid, and carefully prying the retaining lip at the right end of the silver-grey piece until it lifts up. The piece is then removed by sliding the retaining "leg" free at the right end of the piece.

Inside, you will see some white plastic gears. One gear is mounted on a floating idler arm. This gear controls feed and reject (I think). The feeder fails when this idler does not flip freely from one positon to the other. Carefully place a SMALL amount of very light (low viscosity) oil on the ider arm and verify that if easily moves back and forth.

Test the unit before replacing the silver gray cover piece.

That fixed it for me.

Email if you have questions.
