Driver for fi-6130z

Your problem is not the driver of that scanner but the system corruption of Windows 8.1 and if you don't solve this issue now, you'll be suffering this "karma" until system finally collapses.
If Windows 8.1 update went wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong. You should backup all your data and do a factory reset for Windows 8 and then update to Windows 8.1
If Windows 8 came preinstalled in your laptop you should have a recovery partition on your hard drive.
There are several tutorials how to do a system reset. Read them and follow the one you best understand.

How to connect barcode scanner to your pc

In order for them to be useful, barcode scanners often have to be connected to computers. We will recall that in virtually all cases, the data which gives meaning to the barcodes they read is stored in databases, which are in turn hosted on computers. What the barcode scanners are meant to do, then, is to transmit the data they scan to the computer, with the computer checking that data against the database in order to assign meaning to it. In most cases, then, scanners without computers will tend to be quite useless. For a scanner to be useful, it has to be connected to the computer. And what we are interested in, for this discussion, is gaining an understanding of the ways through which barcode scanners connect to computers (at the simple, physical, external level).
As it turns out, there are four main ways through which barcode scanners connect to the computers which host the databases upon which they depend:

1. Serial port connection: this is where the scanner comes with a pin which you simply hook onto the serial port of your computer (like where you would hook an extra mouse), and thence connect the barcode scanner to computer. It was, arguably, the first method for connecting barcode scanners to computers to be developed. Its disadvantage is that it is not a plug and play approach. You have to go through quite a lengthy installation process for the barcode scanner, when you go this way. Furthermore, should the scanner 'hang' somewhere in the middle of a computing session, you don't have the option of just unplugging it and then plugging it in again to see whether it will work. Instead, you have to restart the whole machine again, and this can be very disruptive, for instance in the midst of a shopping checkout for a hurried customer. In this system, a scanner would also need specialized software to connect to various computers, meaning that there was no universality in scanner usage.

2. Keyboard wedge connection: this is a connection method where the barcode scanners are put in somewhere between the keyboard and the computer as a 'wedge.' It is something of an improvement on the serial port connection.

3. USB connection: this is what is to be found on most scanners, today. It is where you connect the scanner to the computer using any USB port. A scanner made in this way can, therefore, be used with pretty much any computer. Should it stall midcourse, you have the opportunity to just unplug it, and plug it again, to see if that solves the problem (which it often does). It is also convenient, because in this approach, connecting the scanner to the computer becomes as easy as connecting a USB flash disk to the machine.

4. Wireless connection: this is the emerging technology in ultra-modern scanners, where using systems such as Bluetooth, they are able to connect to the associated databases wirelessly.

Can't find scanner

Is the scanner visible in Device Manager? If not you have a hardware or connection issue.

Is the connection USB or network? If network have you checked TCP/IP settings? If USB are the USB items OK in Device manager?

Is it an old scanner connected to a new Windows version such as Win7. Some old scanners are not compatible.

I try to scan a document and it says that I am not set up on pc. I use just the scan button and it still won't scan. Help please!!!

Verify cables connected properly to the back of the scanner
If the scanner is a parallel port scanner it is likely it has two available connections on the back of the scanner. Verify that the cable coming from the computer is connecting to the IN, Computer IN, computer, or similar connection.
Ensure that the scanner is getting power
If your scanner is not getting power it is recommended that you check the connections ensuring that they are connected properly to the back of the computer and from the scanner to the wall. If you have the scanner connected to a power strip and or surge protector it is temporarily recommended that you connect the scanner directly to the wall.
If the computer scanner is getting power, you should notice the inside light come on when the power is first received by the scanner.
After checking the connections you still get no power to the scanner, it is recommended you contact the manufacturer of the scanner.
Additional parallel port scanner troubleshooting
If you have another device connected in between the scanner and the computer, turn off the computer and temporally disconnect the devices connected to or from the scanner. If, after disconnecting these devices, the scanner works, it is likely that another device may have issues or may be unable to work with other parallel devices.
PC Windows users verify no TSRs are running in the background
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and end task all currently running software except explorer and systray and attempt to scan again. If this resolves your issue it's a possibility that an application in the background such as a virus utility is preventing your scanner from scanning.
Verify the LPT port mode
PC users ensure that the LPT port mode within the computer BIOS is set to either EPP or bi-directional mode and/or try alternating between these two modes.
Update the drivers
Verify that the latest drivers are installed for the operating system being used on your computer. A listing of computer scanner manufacturers and links to the drivers pages can be found on our scanner drivers page.
