Heater won't relight after shutting down, but fan continues to run

Roger, you either have a gas supply issue or a voltage problem.
Since I don't know your aptitude and abilities pertaining to LP gas troubleshooting/testing procedures, I don't know how detailed you want to go...basically, make sure your propane tank isn't empty; or that the pressure regulator didn't freeze up. Make sure that it is rated and set for 28" of water column output.
Check to make sure all the wire connections are secure to the flame control terminal block and to each of the hi-limit switches.
Isolate & perform continuity checks to each electrical component, including the gas valve.
You'll need a manometer to test and set the gas input & output water column levels.

When the unit is running,, what color is the flame?
Is there a roaring sound?
Is the flame small and weak?

I have a fahrenheat wall mounted heater, 120 v model,(can't find a model number on the unit) with a dial temp control. No matter which number setting it is on, the unit cycles off after about 50 seconds....

UNIT SOUNDS LIKE ITS SHUTTING DOWN ON A LIMIT SWITCH IN HEATER. THEY LOOK LIKE ROUND BUTTONS OF DIFFERENT SIZES. THE HAVE 2 WIRES GOING TO THEM AND THEY ARE A NORMALLY CLOSED. THERE IS A FAN DISK NORMALLY OPEN TO UNTILL IT GETS HOT AND CLOSES TO TURN ON FAN.  IF THE FAN SWITCH TAKES TO LONG TO CLOSE THEN LIMIT OPENS TO PROTECT FROM OVER-HEATING

Hooking up the thermostat

Thermostats are typically low voltage only no more than 24volts that is supplied from the transformer in your heating unit. you need to look at your low voltage wiring that is in the furnace and write down the terminals that are hooked up. Usually (this is a very typical set up) red wire goes to R which supplies 24 volts. green goes to G powers fan motor, white to W terminal and blue or yellow goes to Y terminal this terminal will usually have another wire in its terminal with it to control an outdoor ac unit likely another red or white wire, and lastly the C terminal has a white wire. That is for a basic heating and cooling system just match how they are hooked up at the main unit to the terminals on your thermostat. the thermostat is just a switch breaking and connecting terminals that allow voltage to carry through it. Shut down your unit while working on it as not to blow the transformer otherwise you are gonna need to replace it to if it isnt fused, that is probably my most common repair from people who have tried to change their own thermostat. Hope this helps

Fahrenheat fuh 54 b does not run long enough to get garage warm

have you checked what the operating amps are vs. the amps provided by the outlet. Sounds like you are trying to pull to much load and the machine probably has a saftey to where it shuts down bofore it buns itself up. Hope this helps. You have to be real careful about overloading circuts.

Fahrenheat 4000 watt wall mounted heater shuts off and needs reset

the reset is probably an inline circuit breaker. if you can get hold of am amprobe clamp around ammeter, check the current when the unit is running at full power. the reading you get check against the current rating of the inline breaker. your fan motor bearings may be dry increasing the current draw of the unit and tripping the breaker. try oiling the fan bearings with a light oil NOT WD-40.
