Ink cartridges not working in epson sx100 all in one printer

Recently my black ink ran out and as the inks are so expensive I went to my local computer shop who sell cheaper compatible versions - these are inkrite E714 etc. They advised me that on the first change I had to change all four inks at the same time. I have done this but the printer will not work , it wont print anything and it shows the cartridges as all being empty on the screen . I dont know what to do , can anyone help ? I start a course next week so need my printer.

Ive put new cartidges into my sx100 from a multipack from the reputable Wilkinsons, they are supposed to be compatible if the packaging were to be believed. The first three of the four have worked fine for about a week however i have just put the last one in to replace yellow and the print warning is reading all cartridges as being empty. Ive followed all instructions, taken them out and put them back, switched the printer off and on, nothing is working and i have important work to print. AAAAARRRRRR! I need help !

I have recently purchased a Black TO891 Epson Ink Cartridge for my Epsom SX100 all in one printer. Having installed it I am getting a message that the black cartridge is empty. I have tried reinstalling it following all instructions but to no avail. Can anyone help please. The printer is only 1 month old and this is the first time I have had to replace a cartridge.

I have had exactly the same problem, the original cartridge ran out after onl;y 9 pages I then fitted a compatible cartridge and was told it was not compatible, I was then informed via Epson installation program that magenta cartridge was now empty too, which is absolute nonsense. I am not stupid, I was a computer dealer for 15 years and sold 1000's of printers. I also feel that the "manual" that came with the SX100 was appalling the only one I can remember being worse was the Juki 6100 back in the early 80's

Hi.make sure there is no tape or dirt on cartridge chip contacts.if still no joy trying iserting one cartridge at a time then installing.say insert black then will say others carts missing red blue yellow.keep going till they are installed.sometimes helps.make sure the carts have lastest chips installed version 5 or higher if compatable cart.should not be a problem if bought from epson.eg t711 etc will fit but must be new carts with new chip otherwise may not accept.i belive the sx100 has something like t811 or something.this may be the new chip.otherwise may just be a faulty chip on the cart.you can get refillable carts or ciss system on ebay you put in your own ink.they are brillant.cart chips reset when low ink.hope this may help.

You can use compatibles in the printer i have one, you have to reset the chips, you can use a chip resetter or do it manually, replace the cartridge if it doesn't recognise itturn off the pc, unplug from the mains for 2 minutes and then reinstall. I use this methid with all of mine, only thing i've not figures out is how to stop all of my compatibles ceasing when one cartridge runs out. The min one cartridge runs out they all become unrecognised, that annoys the hell outta me as most of them are at least half full.

Make sure that you have removed the tape on each cartridge.
make sure the cartridges are for your model printer as they are not all the same.
The cartridges could be bad since they are remanufactured, you can go back to the place you bought them and see if they will replace the cartridges for you or you can look online for a cheaper price like www.meritline.com

Why doesn't my black ink work in my Epson WorkForce 600 series after replacing the black ink cartridge?

The Epson printer may only use genuine ink cartridges which contain a chip so that you cannot fill the cartridge with ink or use non genuine ink cartridges.

OR

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

You can't print in black only mode because printer need all cartridges not empty to initialized and working.Don't try to refill this cartridges, it's have a chip and you need to reset it too.Just look in your are for non OEM ink cartridges.Thea are 2-3 times cheaper.

If a cartridge is expended, you must replace it to be able to print. If a cartridge is low, you can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement. You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expendedI have come across this issue many times and unforunately you have to replace the colour carts in order to continue to use the printer.

My Epson cx7450 ran out of ink a while ago. I

Did you remove the cartridges when it went out of ink? If so, the printer head is clogged. Anyway, If you didn't remove the cartridges and the "a while ago" means "Long time ago", is more likely the printer head is clogged. You may need to run the "cleaning printer head" feature from the printer or replace the printer head.

Inkjet printers should be used frequently to avoid this issue.

Why won't my CX9400F recognize Epson ink cartridges

The Epson CX9400F printer seems to require replacement of all the color ink cartridges, even if only the Black is empty.

I print almost exclusively in Black, but with my first change of Black, I was forced to change all the color. At the time I thought Epson did not provide completely filled color ink cartridges.

Just yesterday, I replaced Black and the printer complained it did not recognize the rest of color cartridges. So I replaced all the other color ink cartridges and now it works fine.

You might want to check out www.clickinks.com for cheaper, mail order alternatives which are Epson ink compatible, if you are not in a hurry.

Black and white not printing correctly, color is fine

If you are not using Epson ink, your printer will do this. Epson printers hate knock-off ink. Always use Epson ink if you want to keep your printer working properly. To solve the problem you are having, try cleaning the ink tubes. Make sure you re-install them properly. Hope this helps. Charlene

I have a epson stylus printer C65 series. I ran out of black ink so i changed the ink cartridge and it will only print colour not black now.

I have an Epson stylus 6000 series, second hand but was working just fine. I changed the ink cartridges and now the color won't print. Utilities shows all cartridges full, but only black and pale green-blue print. While it was printing color it was drinking the ink, but that's another story.

Ink

Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.
