Hp clj 5500 :unable to store job at printer

...after a cold reset this hp clj 5500 printer prints but before long it stops and an error appears: unable to store job at printer ("install an EIO hard disk" is the solution it offers on the same error page)...even when printing basic emails and word documents.
Then it stops printing all together but when it is printing( it also prints random error message pages with errors such as extradata, missing data and illegal tag.Please help !

    ...the above clarification request (or information thereof rather )is for the fixya team as the xerox problem seems to be linked to the hp problem and they are not

    I still have the problem with the Hp5500!

    I have not had any suggestions so far...also the xerox xd 103 which I reported last week has been fixed and I posted a "fixya" result but as I say, the problem I have now is with a Hp 5500 colour laserjet printer the symptoms of which are described above.

If you mean toner, you can probably do it, but most new printers have a memory chip on the cartridge which keeps track of toner. Adding toner will not change the count and the printer will ignore the new toner

79.XXXX PRINTER ERROR

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Turn on the printer.
  3. Try printing a job from a different software program. If the job prints, go back to the first program and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears with a certain software program or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.)


If the message persists, try the following:
  1. Cycle power.
  2. Reseat or replace the interface cable and cycle power.
  3. Remove the DIMMs one at a time and cycle power.
  4. Try using the parallel interface, if possible.
  5. With the EIO cards removed from the printer perform a cold reset:
    1. Remove any accessory, including the HP Jetdirect card.
    2. Turn off the printer.
    3. Hold down the GO button while turning on the printer.
    4. When the printer displays COLD RESET, release the GO button.

The LJ4015 Series printers are the latest upgrade of HP's most reliable LJ4000 series printer. . 49.xx errors are usually firmware, formatter, or sometimes print-job related.



The first step in troubleshooting this error is to isolate the printer from any computer source - disconnect from any I/O ports, Network/USB etc... Power cycle the printer. Does the error still report? If NO then an application may be causing the error, try to isolate the file causing the problem. Clear any pending print jobs. If YES then Firmware/Formatter most are the problem. The newest firmware is version 04.046.2A released in early September.


Critical Firmware Error.

Causes are invalid print commands, corrupt data, invalid operations or even a bad formatter.Power cycle the printer. Press STOP to clear the print job from memory.

Power cycle again. Try printing something from a different software program. If it works, print the job that failed before. If it still fails, repeat the power cycling again and then print something using the failing program but a different file. If it works the file that failed before is corrupt.

If it fails no matter what you print, your printer has a hardware problem and would suggest going to HP for warranty. Try updating the firmware.

Formatter issue. I would attempt a cold reset if that doesn't resolve it then you are going to have to replace the formatter.



How to cold reset a P4015

Turn the machine off (Remove the Jet Direct Card - Retains IP Address)

  1. Turn the Machine on.
  2. Press and Hold The OK button until the memory stops counting and all 3 lights are lit up.
  3. Arrow up to cold reset then hit OK to start the reset.

If the machine still comes back to the 49 error after the reset the formatter will need to be replaced. Formatter Part Number - CB438-67901 for HP LaserJet P4015x (HP CB511A)

Your print buffer is full in your hard drive.

Remove programs you don't use
Defrag the Hard Drive
Delete Temporary files in System Tools

I have a HP laserjet 4015 and it shows a 49ff04 error.

uncheck "MOPIER" in printer properties. Printer is mopy.

HP4000 not printing LPT1


Dear sir;I believe you can try " cold reset", that's means going to clear all data from the printer memory and sets all the defaults back to the factory settings.performing a "cold reset" resets the jetDireect configuraion. to avoid making changes to yourconfiguration, remove the jetDirect card before performing a cold reset. if possible, print a configuration page prior to performing a cold reset. this will document current settings for later reference.
to perform a cold reset;
1, turn off the printer.
2, while pressing "go", turn the printer on. COLD RESET appears briefly on the display, then INITIALIZING appears.after a few seconds, RESTORING FACTORY SETTING appears on the display, followed by OFFLINE.the cold reset is complete.
3, press "go" to return the printer online "ready " appearson the display.
Little bit complicated but is easy ,hope can take care your problem, GOOD LUCK! Let me know the resolve please!
