The remote control does not work

The red timer light is on but no other functions are working. The on off button does not respond on the remote or on the TV. I changed batteries in the remote, still nothing. The unit is dead other than the red timer light. Please Help!

- Just a few hours ago the remote stopped responding to cabel box, so I pulled out the one for the tv and samething, no power control or any volume control. Two remotes, fresh batteries and still not working.- Guest
