My friend who is a single mom is looking for a good inexpensive laptop for her son for school...she had an acer aspire 5100 that gave her nothing but trouble and now she's alittle scared of getting bit again...what would ya'll suggest or have had good luck with?

If you are looking for something locally, i would suggest finding a smaller (mom and pop) computer store... not one of the big ones(best buy/circuit city). hope this helps, please rate if it does...thanks
If your son used the edata security and used both passwords. you can either ask him for password or change the boot secuence to boot to restore disk and restore back to default..which defaults to NO PASSWORD set.
If you are able, when the pc is booting up keep pressing F8, this will take you to safe mode and not allow the graphics driver to run.
When in the safe mode options, select either Last known good configuration or start windows in safe mode.
Last known good configuration should find the last good system settings, when it reboots.
Start windows in safe mode allows you to go into windows using the administartor account, and then you should select system restore and restore back to the day before or just before you updated the graphics driver.
