SOURCE: How to remove plastic limiter cap on (H) carburetor adjustment

If plastic cap is present, it should just pop off with a thin sharp hook. Look carefully at the screw heads--they may be 'D' heads which require a special screwdriver and are supposed to keep owners from moving the screws (thank the EPA for these). Only authorized saw servicing dealers have access to these tools and therefore are the only folks allowed to adjust these saws. Being nonconformist, I made my own by drilling the center of a 1/4" rod, sawed off one side somewhat and welded a flat across the cut. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: carburetor tool

Unless you are skilled enough to make your own, you are stuck taking the saw to a servicing dealer as they are the only ones allowed to possess the necessary 'D' head screwdriver. Give thanks to the EPA for mandating the prevention of mal-adjustment pollution.

Weedeater will idol but won't run - it will cut off when you try to give it gas

To begin with, let's start with the basics.
  1. Are you using fresh gas? If not, you need to get some. If there is any old gas/oil mixture in the machine, remove it by pouring it into some sort of container.
  2. If want to purchase a gas/oil mixture already mixed, a store like Home Depot or Lowes has quart cans at the correct mixures. 50:1 / 40:1 etc. and it's Leaded gasoline usually 91 octane.
Weedeaters will lose their carburetor adjustment over time because of vibration or the fuel mixtures may change. The carburetor settings are crucial for the machine to run properly.
Not all carburetors are the same, but which ever one you have, you will need a special adjusting tool to do this. You can find adjusting sets locally or here. https://www.amazon.com/HIPA-Carburetor-Adjustment-Including-21-Teeth/dp/B01FAAKN7E/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467833656&sr=8-3&keywords=carburetor+adjusting+tool

Not To do this process, you will need to identify the 2 special

adjusting screws on the top or side of the carburetor.
The screws are highlighted as HI and LO. The HI allows fuel adjustment for the weedeater at full throttle. The LO is for the adjusting the idle.

Try these steps:
1. Adjust both screws clockwise until just seated (tight) using the correct tool (from a set similar to the one above)
2. Rotate the HI screw 1 1/2 turns counter-clockwise
3. Rotate the LO screw 1 turn counter-clockwise
4. Start the machine.
5. When it's running (spitting, coughing...) adjust the LO screw a 1/4 turn either way until you get a smooth idle.
6. Pull handle to run at full throttle. If the engine is sputtering then it's getting too much fuel....adjust the HI 1/4 turn clockwise checking to see if the engine runs smoother.
7. When you get the weedeater running smoothly, there are no further adjustments to be made. Just make sure you are using FRESH gas/oil that hasn't been sitting longer than 30 days.
Good Luck!

What is carburetor setting on a2.3 chainsaw

There is no fixed carburetor setting on these engines, just two screws to adjust low-end and high-end operation. Special tool may be required, there are about a half-dozen screw head standards. Check eBay for tool. Get the engine to run and idle fast (idle adjust) so it doesn't stall, adjust low-end screw so that engine doesn't hesitate or sputter when accelerated. Adjust high-end screw to run fast and smooth on full throtle. Readjust idle to normal.

My weedwacker starts but when i squeeze the throttle it dies out how do i adjust it

If you turn the L mixture screw counter-clockwise about 1/8 to 1/4 turn, it will improve the throttle up capability of the carburetor, providing the fuel pump diaphragm and metering-lever diaphragm in the carburetor are not dried up and worn out. They make a special tool for adjusting the screws in the carburetor. Sellers on Ebay have the tool. Of course you have to register as a member to buy. The tool is not readily available at small engine repair shops or hardware stores as the manufacturers don't want us to mess with the "lean" settings required per EPA emissions rules (esp. in California). If you don't use Ebay, there are other ways to "turn" those little splined mixture screws. I use wire plastic wire terminal connectors (ring type and splice-connecting type). I tap the ends of the wire connectors (not wire nuts, mind you) over the heads of the screws until tight and proceed from there. The wire connectors I use I think fit 22 gauge wire. If you take them out, cut slots in the heads so they can be turned with a conventional screwdriver. This is a very, very cheap alternative to buying a tool. Small, soft brass or aluminum tubing (found at hardware stores and big box stores) can also be forced down over the heads of the screws. I will include a link to the tools on Ebay and a link on how to adjust the carburetor using the 2 (L and H) adjusting needles.

Where do I find a carburetor adjustment tool? The

I used a Dremmel tool cut-off wheel and now have slotted screws. You don't have to remove the screws first. Remove the carb, tape it up to keep it clean, and grind the screws. The raised guard will also grind, which gives you a guide for adjustment.

What is the walbro chain saw carburetor adjustment for a

There is no set adjustment on any chain saw. If it were that simple there would be no need for adjustments. The problem is that most equipment manufactured in the past 10 years can not be adjusted by the user. Carburetors are now equipped with either adjustment limiters which limit the adjustment to less than half a turn or with adjustment screws that require a special tool to make the adjustment. More than likely you will have to take it to an authorized dealer for those adjustments.

If you do have an adjustable carburetor, then gently close both needles and open each on 1 full turn. This should allow the engine to start and the final adjustments can be made at that point. If it still will not start then open each needle 1/8 to 1/4 turn and try again. If this still does not work then most likely your carburetor needs a good cleaning and a rebuild kit.
