Question about Panasonic PT-AE900U Multimedia Projector

Panasonic PT-AE900U Projector Lamp stops working (intermittent)

I have a PT-AE900U with about 1200hrs on the lamp. It has worked perfectly until rcently (last 3 weeks).

Issue: Lamp will not start up and the projector shows blinking red light and lamp light.

Temporay resolution: I reseat the lamp (remove and reinstall) and the projector works fine for a day or two then the same issue happens. I have cleaned the air filter so I am sure it is not heat.

Ideas: Could it just be the lamp dying off?
Why does it work when I reseat? Is there a sensor etc in the projector?

Please help..
I am going to buy a new lamp soon I think. But I want to ensure it is not a projector issue.

Thanks in advance,

I have the same issue, but I just replaced the lamp, so don't assume that will fix it.  The old lamp had 3000+ hours on it (and nearly three years of use) with no problems.  Replaced the lamp with a new one and that's when the problems started.  Same issue as boogaboo760.  Power comes on, On/Standby lamp flashes green then lamp light flashes red and projector goes to Standby.

I just ran into the same problem. Original bulb with 1546 hours on it. It did the LAMP blinks red thing, but worked again the next day. Now it is permanently LAMP blinks red.

same problem, lamp eventually wouldn't turn back on. replaced the lamp - no light, just the red and green flashing lights on unit. Panasonic Tech Support didn't know what was wrong, so we took it to one of their repair shops. They thought it was the ballast, but that didn't work. It has been 3 weeks. They have contacted Panasonic - they now have 2 that won't work. I just spoke with Tech Support again and they will contact the repair shop.

    Still having the same issues.

As long as I reset the lamp, the project works just fine for a day or two. The lamp is strong and bright.

    Anyone get this fixed yet?

same thing..previous lamp worked for 3000 hrs. replaced it with new lamp.. and after 200ish hours.. found it started getting very slow to switch on, and now doesn't do anything.. just get the red led blinking saying problem with lamp. sometimes it does work when i switch it on and lamp seems to be in good shape...Don;t want to fork out 400euro to find out its not the lamp thats the problem...

Since it has worked 1200 hours or even more since u have been resetting the counter! just change the lamp, resetting the counter does not make the lamp work or not work , it is only a reminder for the user to change the bulb when it should be & that u have some balance hours left to procure a new lamp!
if the brightness is adequate, then it is a ballast problem & not lamp problem!
buy a new lamp as u will anyway need to , fit it & it may solve ur problems permanently!

Nothing comes on except the green standby light on PT-AE900E.

I have the same problem. It seems we have to reset the counter. This reset must be done via the beamer itself and not via remote control, since lamp is not working...

Panasonic PT-AE900U Projector Lamp stops working (intermittent)

Could be a heat sensor, fan bearing issue..have you listened to the fan speed etc, But I think more along the lines of the lamp needs replacing..each time you resit it is thinking ah a new lamp and then realises hey someone is fooling me and shuts down...this scenario is doing you a favour as typically if it blew and shattered the glass it will inevitablly scratch the mirror and lcd block... and if it does that you might as well toss it in the rubbish or sell on ebay for $50 ..

Panasonic PTAE 900U with new lamp and counter reset shut off

Reseat the lamp.  I had a similar problem.  Replaced the lamp and everything worked for about 3 hours.  Then, turned the projector off.  Next morning, when I turned it on, nothing.  Stanby/On light flashed green for a minute then the lamp light came on and the projector went into standby.

Panasonic pt ae900 wont fire up

First , start over and unplug it. Wait a few minutes. Turn on AV system that is connected to it but not video or dvd player. With remote, point at is corectly and push power 1 sec or as soon as you see green light come on. Be quick.
If this fails you can wait 4 hours and repeat. OR try only projector with out any feed.

Let me know if this worked.

Panasonic PT-AE900u no image

may i know now what is the age of your projector. have you done replacing the lamp of the unit before.

Lamp life varies by manufacturer and projector type. Lamp life also depends on the projector's environment: air flow, clean air, and also on the level of usage. Check the user's manual or specification pages for your projector to determine the exact lamp life.

The manual says that it will do this as a reminder that it has ended the recommended lamp life (on mine PTAE900E this starts at 2700hrs and supposedly can blow from then until the max of 3000hrs)

sounds scary enough i guess but they put that 10minutes on/off thing in there to kinda force you to get it changed...

mine is at 2600 anyone know of a good place to get a new lamp in melbourne australia?

cheers dave
