You should try looking for a short, and reseat your connections. Make sure your power supply voltage is set correctly. If that doesn't help, test your power supply and if it fails, replace it.

If that does not help you there's still quite a bit that could be wrong. You could try restarting with only the essential hardware and if it turns on you'll have to check each componant one by one for the cause. Maybe you might need to reseat the CPU. If you still don't find the cause, you may try a POST card. If you don't have a POST card or do not want to buy one you can try swapping parts from an older machine if avaliable and compatible.

If none of the above helps, then I would suggest taking it into a shop. Otherwise your only option is to begin replacing all the parts which can be expensive. I hope this helps and that it turns out to be nothing serious.

The most likely solution is to replace any Capacitors that have blown in the onboard power circuit. Look for a Capacitor that has got a very bulging top in the region of the power connector.

Can you connect the 4pin power supply to the 8pin on board 12v

Yes, you can connect the 4 pin power supply to the 8 pin with little trouble but, you should not try any advanced features like overclocking or crossfire. If you would like to do those things I suggest getting a 4 to 8 pin adapter (very cheap usually less than $5) at most local computer stores.

I have an AsusP5P 800 mother board and the unit won't power on.

I had a very similar issue like this, how many RAM modules do you have installed? if you have 2 DIMM installed try removing the memory on at at time(try interchanging the RAMS), see if turns on. if not might be the motherboard itself thats possibly defective.

Cpu fan stop few second after starting pc

Hello, have you installed new motherboard or CPU?
Follow these steps again
1) Disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer & open up the case.

2) Wear an anti-static glove or at very least discharge your static by touching a metal surface or power supply

3) Disconnect the main 20pin ATX power connector from the motherboard & the square 4pin ATX2 power connector

4) Remove any PCI cards you have & disconnect ALL drive cabling from the MOTHERBOARD. Also disconnect any internal USB fly leads from the motherboard.

5) You should now have ONLY the cpu+heatsink/fan, memory & video card installed. Locate the round silver battery in the bottom right corner of the board. Just below it, you'll see a plastic jumper cap. This cap should be covering 2 pins (pins 1 + 2) with pin 3 bare. It will be marked JP1. Move the jumper to cover pins 2-3 instead. Leave in this position for about 30 seconds, then return the jumper to its original position (pins 1-2).

6) Reconnect the square 4pin ATX2 power connector & the main 20 pin ATX power connector. Make sure that the case speaker or buzzer is connected also.

7) Make sure the only external devices connected are the keyboard/mouse & monitor. Reconnect the power lead & power on the system

Let me know what happens

System won't turn on but when i pushg down on one side of the power suply connectore the fan starts running but computer stioll won't turn on it used to boot up then opne day stopped

It sounds like you have a faulty connector - I would return the item under warranty. Otherwise, if it is out of warranty, you will have to source a new motherboard.

Hi,
The ATX 12v ( 4 pin Connector ) is For The CPU Power.
This could Indicate, either A Faulty CPU.
Or a fault To The Motherboards ( BGA ) or CPU Socket Holder.
Or alternatively, The Actual PSU Itself is Faulty.
You can obtain A CPU Socket Tester from e-bay. And A PSU Tester.

Hope This Helps Mike @ Compurepair.

Mother Board problem

Are there any beep/s sound that you can hear when you try to Boot your desktop? If there are none then do some check the following: 1. Please check if you have properly connected the connectors for ATX 20 pins powersupply and for ATX 12V Power Connectors. 2. Press the POWER Button to turn ON your Desktop and Check if the Powersupply FAN is spinning to ensure that there is Electricity power for your Powersupply BOX. Then press (approximately 5 secs) the Power Button if Turn Off again. If its shutdown then your motherboard is OK. But when you press the Power Button and you hear a sound like a BOAT's Horn/Fogging sound then your Power Supply is not sufficient to provide power to your Desktop or CPU.. 3. If you got 2 or more memory Cards installed in your motherboard then try to install those Memories one at a time. To determine if one of those card is defective..
