Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Won't print from Word or Excel

The printer will not print from the Windows programs Word or Excel though it prints fine from email. We have changed the ink cartridge several times and it may work for one copy but then fades away & usually just sounds like it is printing but a blank sheet of paper comes out. What can we do to fix this problem

Given the fact that you are able to print some documents then at rules out any hardware or driver problems. As if it were a faulty connection or a corrupted print driver then you would not be able to print anything. The printer spooler sometimes becomes full and it just needs to be cleared out and restarted. So try this we will reset your print spooler:
Step 1: Click on Start
Step2: Click on Run
Step 3: In the small window type services.msc
Step 4: Scroll down until you find the Print Spooler
Step 5: Right click on it and click Restart

This close all windows and print. Let me know how it turns out and if you have any questions please let me know.

Hi

Sounds like a glitsch in your text software, e.g. MS Word... Some of these MS programs are not as intuitive as they should be... You may have used an envelope template which was set up -- and worked fine -- for a different printer.

Try checking your software's envelope setup to ensure the feeder orientation matches the printer's design. For example, if using MS Word97, go into "Tools", "Envelopes and Labels", "Options", "Printing Options", and indicate the "feed option" that corresponds with your printer. (Look for an icon embossed on the paper feeder somewhere, or in the printer manual, for the envelope feed orientation that the printer is designed for...)

I don't think its your printer's issue however there is some problem with ms word. Reinstall ms word(before reinstalling, restart your pc) and then it will print with ms word & excel.

    Thanks

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

It sounds like there may be a Missing or Corrupted Driver on the Computer Causing this Problem, Please Re-Download the Driver off the Manufacturer Website!

If not it may also be a Faulty Printing Sensor/Lens!

Hope this works and Remember to Rate My Answer, --P3NGYJ03

I actually have this same problem at work some of the time. What i do to fix it is I turn off the printer and disconnect it from the PC then I reboot the PC and reconnect the printer to a different USB port and turn the printer back on. After that it prints correctly.

Are you sure the correct printer is selected in Excel? I would compare Excel print settings with Word settings, since Word is printing docs.

Printer will not print e-mails

Hi,

Once you give print command of an email, your email program should ask you to select printer.

If you are using MS Office, by default One Note printer might be selected.

Please check which printer is assigned when you click print.

I hope this information helps.

The print settings can be different for different programs. Open Excel and in the File menu, choose Page Setup. Click on Options, and towards the bottom is a setting that says Copies. Change this to "1" and hit OK, and you should be fine.

Hope that helps!

Printer won't print email or confirmation notes

I've ran into a similar problem at a client. They have about 20 printers in the work environment, a few of them are bigger copier/scanner/faxes that prompt for a department code upon printing. A few of the workstations were having problems printing emails to one of these multifunction printers to where the computer acted like everything printed fine, but there was no prompt for the department code so the email did not print. I could go into Word/Excel/Acrobat and it would prompt for a department code and everything would print fine, but Outlook never prompted for this code.

My fix was to just simply reinstall the problem printer and the workstation started prompting for department codes again upon printing from outlook.
