Question about HP Pavilion a400n (DQ173A#ABA) PC Desktop
Did you check the icon showed in the Device managment in Windows? I think you have to check it. If the sound device icon was crossed by a red hash. It shows you disabled it. If a !, you have to update the drive. If nothing could be found by you. You have check your hardware inculd your mother board and the Sound card which is compacted on the board. Jimmie

May be too basic, but first : 1. Check whether you have installed speakers in the Speaker Out socket 2. Speakers are powered on properly, try on another system for confirmation if possible. 3. Check whether your Microsoft XP with Service Pack 2 ? If not, install SP2 first and try reloading the drivers. 4.
