Was told from a local printer expert to fix this problem, I would need to replace the drum unit. Did so and it didn't fix the problem (returned the new drum also). Pages are coming out 'grainy' or 'shady'. HELP! Love the printer otherwise....
If all the colors are effected by grainy look, then it could be the imaging unit like you were told or the transfer belt. Unfortunately there generally isn't a way to test which one it is but to swap and test.

Send a print to the unit, open printer when paper is in drum area (guess and open a door or turn off, to stop the printer) open carefully, remove carefully and look at the paper, are the lines there, pull drum unit, flip open drum protection door if equipt, and look at the partial image on it, If the lines were imaged on the drum, replace drum unit. No marks on drum or paper yet, posible the fusing section roller is damaged and marking pages. Stop test will show where defect starts.
Do you have enough ink in your printer? This can be a problem. A faulty drum/roller could also be a cause which in that case will need to be replaced. Since you have done your part i guess the rest should be handeld by an expert personally.
Hello sir;The streak line from printing also should be from copy, because the line come from imaging unit, check the meter count if close to or over 50,000 then replace drum and drum blade, it will take care the problem.

There is only a manual reset for the toners but I'm sure you already knew that... The drum is just a plug-n-play type consumable and should just reset automatically unless it's an old drum... ( make sure that you didnt make the mistake like so many of us a reput the old drum back in again) if your sure its the new one then it's obviously defective and depending on where you got it you should be able to defect it out for credit... hope this helps... www.bigmoneycentral.com
