Table saw blade alignment


Are you referring to the table top or rip fence alignment? The blade itself is not aligned. We adjust the table to parallel with blade and the rip fence should toe away from blade 0.01mm over the length of the rip fence to prevent binding.

Need the timing marks for a 2000 alero


please let me know if you have questions.
2.4L Engine
NOTE It is recommended that the entire procedure be reviewed before attempting to service the timing chain.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following: Negative battery cable, Coolant surge tank, Accessory drive belt, Alternator
  4. Install an engine support.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following: Upper cover fasteners, Front cover vent hose, Right engine mount and bracket, Right front wheel, Right lower splash shield, Crankshaft balancer, Lower cover fasteners, Front cover
  6. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise, as viewed from front of engine (normal rotation) until the camshaft sprocket's timing dowel pin holes align with the timing chain housing holes. The crankshaft sprocket mark should align with the engine mark. The crankshaft sprocket keyway should point upward and align with the cylinder bores centerline. This is the normal timed position.
  7. Remove the timing chain guides.
  8. Remove the timing chain tensioner.
    NOTE Be sure all the slack in the timing chain is above the tensioner assembly when removing it. CAUTION The tensioner plunger is spring loaded and could fly out causing personal injury.
  9. Remove or disconnect the following: Timing chain, Camshaft sprockets

To install:
  1. Install or connect the following: Camshaft sprockets. Torque the bolts to 52 ft. lbs. (70 Nm),
    Camshaft sprocket alignment pin through the camshaft sprockets holes into the timing chain housing holes to position the camshafts for timing.
  2. If the camshafts are out of position and must be rotated more than 1 / 8 turn in order to install the alignment dowel pins, perform the following:
    1. Rotated the crankshaft 90 degrees clockwise off Top Dead Center (TDC) in order to give the valves adequate clearance to open.
    2. Once the camshafts are positioned and the dowels installed, rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise back to TDC.
      WARNING Do not rotate the crankshaft clockwise to TDC or valve and piston damage may occur.
  3. Install the timing chain over the exhaust camshaft sprocket, around the idler sprocket and around the crankshaft sprocket.

  4. Remove the alignment dowel pin from the intake camshaft. Using a dowel pin remover tool, rotate the intake camshaft sprocket counterclockwise enough to slide the timing chain over the intake camshaft sprocket. Release the camshaft sprocket wrench. The length of chain between the 2 camshaft sprockets will tighten.
    NOTE If properly timed, the intake camshaft alignment dowel pin should slide in easily. If the dowel pin does not fully index, the camshafts are not timed correctly and the procedure must be repeated.
  5. Leave the alignment dowel pins installed.
  6. With slack removed from chain between intake camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket, the timing marks on the crankshaft and the cylinder block should be aligned. If marks are not aligned, move the chain 1 tooth forward or rearward, remove slack and recheck the marks.
  7. Tighten the chain housing to engine stud. The stud is installed under the timing chain. Torque it to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
  8. Reload the timing chain tensioner as follows:
    1. Form a keeper from heavy gauge wire.
    2. Slightly, compress the shoe plunger and insert a small screwdriver into the access hole.
    3. Release the ratchet pawl and compress the plunger completely into the hole.
    4. Insert the keeper between the access hole and the blade.
  9. Install or connect the following:
    Tensioner assembly to the chain housing. Torque the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Tensioner shoe and retainer. Torque the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). NOTE Recheck plunger assembly installation. It is correctly installed when the long end is toward the crankshaft.
  10. Remove the alignment dowel pins. Rotate crankshaft clockwise 2 full rotations. Align the crankshaft timing mark with mark on cylinder block and reinstall alignment dowel pins. Alignment dowel pins will slide in easily if engine is timed correctly.
    WARNING If the engine is not correctly timed, severe engine damage could occur.
  11. Install or connect the following: Timing chain guides, New seal into the front cover by lubricating the seal lip and tapping it into place, Front cover and gaskets. Torque the nuts and bolts to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm), Crankshaft balancer. Torque the bolt to 129 ft. lbs. (175 Nm), Right front lower splash shield, Front wheel. Torque the nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (140 Nm), Right engine mount bracket. Torque the bolts to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm) plus an additional 90 degree turn, Right engine mount. Torque the bolt to 49 ft. lbs. (60 Nm), Upper cover vent hose
  12. Remove the engine support.
  13. Install or connect the following: Alternator. Torque the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm), Accessory drive belt, Coolant surge tank, Negative battery cable.
  14. Refill the cooling system.
  15. Start the engine and check for leaks.

How do you align the blade to the mitre slot on a Dewalt 746 table saw? trying to find step by step instructions


How did the blade get out of whack? Take the blade all the way up, put a straight edge against the blade, measure to the miter slot front and rear, if it is not the same, you will have to lightly loosen the carriage underneath and bump the thing over one way or the other with a lead hammer. Get it straight, then torque it back up. You should be all set. You can set your fence to the miter slots the same way. lock it down and check it, if it isn't right, adjust the fence, all fence adjust , from the cheapest to the best. Hope this helps.

Would like information on timing belt settings on a 1993 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 3.2 We have already bought the book. It seems that the setting still are not what this particular motor/engine needs are there other...


look for timing marks????
Align groove of crankshaft timing pulley with mark on oil pump.
Align the marks on the camshaft timing pulleys with the corresponding dots on the front plate. (i can email pic if needed)
When timing marks are aligned, no pistons will be on T.D.C.
install timing belt. Align the dotted alignment mark on the timing belt with the mark on the crankshaft gear.
For correct belt installation, the letters the belt must be able to be read as viewed from the front of the vehicle. It is recommended for easy installation that the belt be secured with double clips after it is installed to each pulley. Align the alignment mark (white line) on the timing belt with the alignment mark on the RH bank camshaft timing pulley (on the left side as viewed from the front of the vehicle Secure the belt with a double clip.
Align the alignment mark (white line) on the timing belt with the alignment mark on the RH bank camshaft timing pulley (on the left side as viewed from the front of the vehicle Secure the belt with a double clip.
Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to remove the belt slack between the crankshaft timing pulley and the RH bank camshaft timing pulley.
Install the belt on the water pump pulley. Remove double clips from pulleys. Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise by two turns. Measure the rod protrusion to ensure it is within the standard. Standard 4-6 mm (0.16-0.24 in)


13) If out of standard, remove pusher, loosen adjusting bolt, and readjust. (Repeat from step 11). Tighten adjusting bolt to the specified torque. Torque 42 N-m (31 lb-ft)


  1. Pusher
    • Tighten bolt to the specified torque.
Torque 19 N-m (19 lb-ft)


  1. Timing belt cover
    • Remove crankshaft pulley that was installed in step 9.
    • Tighten bolts to the specified torque.
Torque 17 N-m (12 lb-ft)


  1. Oil cooler hose
    • Tighten oil cooler hose bracket bolts to the specified torque.
Torque 22 N-m (16 lb-ft)


  1. Crankshaft pulley assembly
    • Using special tool J-8614-01, hold the crankshaft pulley.
    • Tighten center bolt to the specified torque.
Torque 167 N-m (123 lb-ft)


  1. Crankshaft pulley; P/S belt
    • Tighten fixing bolt to the specified torque.
Install the belt on the idler pulley.

THE answer that FINALLY worked for me. Torque the bolt that holds on the blade to the recommended torque specified in your owners manual (for my Exmark this torque is 120 ft-lbs). When I first used the torque wrench, i was quite surprised by the amount of addional force I needed to apply to reach 120 ft-lbs Exmark blades have a round blade hole with a washer and therefore, relies only on friction provided by torquing bolt to the proper torque to prevent slippage so that the blade rotates at the same speed as the spindle. When slippage between the blade and spindle occurs, blade tip speed slows leaving uncut grass.
Note: this solution will NOT work for mowers with a blade and spindle design which uses a positive means (e.g., a star shaped hole on the blade) that assures the blade rotates at the same speed as the spindle with no slippage.

How to correctly replace blade adapter


1) Put a little anti-seize on the engine shaft where the adapter goes.
This will make it easier to remove should you need to in the future

2) Align the built-in key with the key slot on the engine shaft.
Slide the blade adapter on as far as it will go.

3) Put the blade on the alignment hub of the adapter (the star).
Make sure that you have the blade on properly (Angled side of
the cutting surface toward the bottom of the engine)

4) Install the bolt and torque to 60 ft lbs

I don't think that you received a faulty part. From what you described above, you had it installed correctly just not tight enough
I used to see these all the time when I had my shop and it was due to not having enough torque on the blade bolt. The bolt will vibrate loose in no time if not tightened enough.

  1. The bottom blade holes are larger than the shanks of the blade screws. When the blade screws are loosened the bottom blade can be aligned with the top blade. Tighten the screws after the blsde is aligned and ensure that they are kept tight.
  2. The end of the top blade teeth should be aligned 1/32" to 1/16"(.79mm to 1.59m") back from and parallel to the bottom blade. It is important to align your blade properly to ensure that the clipper does not cut too close and to prevent the moving cutter from touching the skin.

  4. The extreme right hand tooth of the top blade must be touching the big tooth of the bottom blade.
