POSSIBLE solution.

First, try removing a file or two to make space for the database to grow.

If this fails, look in the root directory of the player for a file like mp3.mdb and rename it to mp3_old.mdb and see if it rebuilds a good database.

Good Luck!

Well, if the device is not detected, than you haven't been able to open the root directory.

Or do you mean the machine does recognize the player as a drive, but the special software that came with it is acting weird?

Can you get into the menu of the device and do a reset of the player?

I do NOT own this exact model, but my player does use a database file for keeping track of favorites, and what songs were played when. It still sounds like your friend may have crammed it full of MP3s leaving no space for the database in the player to recognize and catalog them.

Sure hope he didn't format the drive, as this will kill some players (clean out the firmware from a hidden directory).

    Anyway, good luck.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. Hello

Verify that the audio file format is compatible with your MP3 player if your player fails to recognize the transferred music.

Make sure you aren't transferring audio files that are DRM-encrypted, if your MP3 player displays an error message that reads "NO AUTHORITY" or "NO PERMISSIONS." It is likely that your license has expired or that you have obtained DRM protected music from an authorized source. If the file was purchased from a reputable source, contact them.

You should Reinstall your firmware if you're having issues with the functionality of your MP3 player,an outdated firmware can be the cause of the error

I received a pearl mp3 player from a friend 2 weeks ago

Your questions are too numerous to answer in one post without resorting to my short answer - go to www.rcapearl.com and download the manual, load the installation software, etc.

The "USB Connected" message is normal - the other functions are only usable once the player is DISconnected from the computer.

I had the same problem with my mp3 player. The problem seems to be that the charge had been depleted - even though the screen said the charging was complete when I plugged it in. Disregard the screen, charge your machine for two hours, and if your player is like mine, it will be functioning properly afterwards. Hope that helps.
