Question about Infinity BASSLINK Car Subwoofer

1 Answer

Power indicator light won't shut off.

This is the third Basslink I have installed (in different vechicles), the other two worked fine. This unit is installed in a 2003 GMC Sierra with the stock radio. I am using the speaker level input (not the preamp level) with the power selector set to "Auto". With the selector switch set to "Auto", I can unplug the speaker inputs from the base unit, and the indicator light still remains on, 24/7. With the selector switch set to "Off" and the speaker level inputs unplugged, the indicator light will then go out.
Help!

There is no remote turn on wire when using the speaker level inputs. The base unit detects a signal in the speaker wires and that signals the unit to turn on. A remote turn on wire is only needed whe you are using the preamp level inputs.

    Thanks!

Is you remote turn onwire (usually blue) always on? Check voltage with a meter or test light. It's possible that the wire is on all the time.

OK. Thanks for the input...(No pun intended). How about this. Is there any way that maybe a strand or two might be touching the terminal screw where the remote wire is suppsed to go? Just a thought. Also, humor me and check that terminal to see if it is getting voltage by accident. I suppose that you always "could" have a defective amp. Let me know. Sorry I can't think of anything else that would cause that.

    Take care.

Power light

Hi Bill, I believe the power problem is related to the Remote wire which should be blue or yellow. The remote wire is suppose the turn the Basslink on and off when the radio is turned on and off. The yellow wire is normally used for power antenna. Traditionally the remote wire is blue. You can use a Speaker level adapter and splice in with the L/R rear speaker wires, and the adapter will convert the speaker level to line level. The output of the adapter will go to the Rear speaker input on the basslink., Write back if you need more detail on the adapter.

2nd Basslink, still no power-on. Please help

this is in response to the post below:

I just bot a basslink t and i wired it up and nothing it just keeps blowing the fues in the unit i got mine on ebay2.gif so i dont know if i can use the warranty dose anybody have an ida for me- britter623

I got a used basslink about a month ago and had the exact same prob kept blowing fuses...found out that the voice coil had blown on the infinity...so I had a brand new dvc polk 10 sittin in the closet, I swapped them out, put the polk in the place of the infinity sub, however, the magnet is much larger, hence, dual voice coil, it would rattle sooo much from the passive radiator against the magnet, also could not turn the gain up at all due to the rattle. I got the bright idea to build a "custom fiberglas enclosure for the polk and incorporate the infinity's parts(amp/control) I finished the box finally last night and hooked it up this morning, no power, no lights, no nothing! s@#%, F&@%! ANyone had a prob w/the amp not having the lights turn on, no power??? Hope that helps about your fuse blowing issue.

Basslink drops out.

The auto on switch should only be in the on position when the REM wire is NOT connected. Auto on can be flaky. Basslinks respond better to RCA inputs then the high level ones. You might try getting an RCA line converter, they work very well with the Basslink.

Amp keeps blowing fuse

I have this same problem. You have blown the internal amp. I have had 2 of these do the same thing. There is nothing you can do but report it to infinity and try to get the unit replaced.
