Wont work on msn keeps saying check to see if ur using it in another program but i am not and when i click video convo it says msn not available right now....i have tryed to dl a new driver also...dunt know what else to do...please help
Well in addition to what cpenzes said i think a good way to check and see that your webcam is even working would be to go to my computer and see if it detects it, if not then your driver is not installed, the one that you had may have been the wrong one as the aspire 6530's may have either a cam made by Suyin or Bison, which require different drivers. if you need the drivers for vista go here: "http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_6530.html" or if you need them for xp go here: "http://komku.blogspot.com/2008/11/acer-aspire-6530-6530g-windows-xp-and.html" (minus quotes) ...i would try both but try suyin fist as those seem to be more common... hope this helps :)

Re: Acer aspire 6530 webcam problems
You need to setup cam with msn
After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on Action. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting and follow the instructions.

http://download.cnet.com/Acer-Crystal-Eye-webcam/3000-2108_4-188685.html see if that link works, if not or if your using windows 7 you HAVE TO download the driver for vista, and install it as a vista program by right clicking the file you downloaded and clicking RUN AS then choose vista. Install it, the actual webcam software may not work but the drivers will allow you to use programs like yahoo messenger video chat, and skype.
Adjust your browser security setting to allow webcams if you have flash micro media you will see the camra security but if you go to internet setting you can ajust the broswer setting from there .make sure that your firewall allow your webcam .then let me know how you did
Unistall Windows Live Messenger Erase the installation folder and
this (XP): .\Documents and Settings\All Users\WLinstaller (or something
that begins with WL and sound like that) in Vista is in .\ProgramData\ REBOOT: REALLY IMPORTANT, I DID IT WITHOUT REBOOT AND DIDN'T WORK After reboot, reinstall. And everything's done.
The first thing to check is if your webcam is working correctly. If you're running Windows XP, click on the "start" button, then click on "My Computer". Now double click on "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam". It should now show a screen with video from the webcam (probably of your face in front of the computer).
Hi there I've just had the same prob with my Acer Aspire 5535. It seems there are compatibility problems with the webcam and the most recent version of MSN. I've now downgraded to v8.1 and it works perfectly fine. I'm probably gonna have a go at using a slightly newer version and see how far I can get before I goes wrong again as v8.1 isn't the most attractive of versions :-)
your cam has to be setup on msn as well After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on Action. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting and follow the instructions.
let me know if this helped
Press your home blue button, go onto settings in the right handside bottom corner. Then select live update. As its the first update it might take up to two days to load. After that you will be able to use messenger :)
