I have an ASUS X52N laptop. The keyboard does not function the same, as my cat jumped on it and did something. My keys do not respond as quickly and if I need to repeat a letter, I have to pause and wait. The same with backspace to erase, pause and wait and erase one lettler at a time very slowly. I looked at the keyboard rate settings, they have not changed. I do not know what the CAT DID! I feel like a fool!

Press Fn + Numlock. You have the number lock on, but laptops don't have a number pad. So it re-assigns these keys to overlay some existing ones. Once your number lock is turned off you should be ok.

SOURCE: ASUS keyboard delete key won't work

are you sure that the key is seated properly on the board? This can easily be fixed by popping it off and checking to see if the 1, or 2, plastic like springs are connect to the key and the board.

Several of my keys on my Asus netbook are not working. What could be the problem?

The keyboard is possibly the problem on this issue, try and go into safemode see if the keys will not function as well from that point, if the keys still do not function in safemode then this is a possible keyboard hardware issue.
But if the key respond in safemode, reinstalling windows may fix the problem.

The fn hotkeys f3 to f12 are not working.

It could be a key problem or a connection problem, cleaning the contacts helps by using contact cleaner. You can also remove the keyboard and clean the ribbon contacts and place it back again. At times it works but if not you need to replace your keyboard.

To determine if the keyboard is faulty ot the keyboard controller chip on the motherboard is faulty, connect an USB keyboard to your laptop. If this USB keyboard functions correctly then the laptop keyboard is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If this keyboard also malfunctions the the fault is on the laptop's motherboard.
You may be able to get it repaired under warranty.

Find the numlok key. on some laptops the letter keys are shared with the 10key numbers. In some cases you need to press the alt key and or the function key while tapint the key with the seconday label numlok. Happens all the time on laptops:)

I have had this netbook (asus: 1005H) for 8 months. Everything worked fine, but now the function keys won't respond? Anything I can do? Danny Doss

Within this link is the documentation for your laptop:
http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=Ues16Gw2OcqSjUNt
You might need to scroll down to find the English version, and then download it from one of the links.

It's possible that there's a function key turn on/off key (or sequence of keys) that might have been pressed. This turned off the functions keys so they're acting as different keys. If your function keys have multiple symbols on them, then they can act as different keys when in this different mode. You need to switch back to the 'function key' mode. Check out the documentation and see if there's something like this.

If this has helped please remember to give me the appropriate 'thumbs up' feedback. Thanks, and good luck!
