Actually the code five (standby blinking 5 times) is an error in the AKB (auto kine bias) circuitry. This could be caused by a bad picture tube or the circuitry itself has something wrong. If the AKB circuit can't adjust the picture tube then, in most cases, it will shut down the TV.
I have this same issue with my Sony KV-32FS13 TV except the TV never shuts down. I am still searching for major clues on how to tell what part is bad. I will get back to you if I find something.
