Battery drain on 1997 rangerover

Hello. It's possible your vehicle's BCM (Body Control Module) was 'shorting'; 'draining' the battery overnight. You stated a fuse was removed and battery voltage increased. That may be your answer; the BCM is at fault. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

A glove box light will drain a battery over night or it could be a bad diode in your alternator. Disconnect the red wire from the alternator and check with a volt meter.

A bad alternator no longer charges the battery, the battery will die once it is drained. This will occur more rapidly when using equipment that runs off of the battery( lights, heater blower, windshield wipers etc.) even electronic ignition will run down a battery. Your battery just went over night the alternator may have stopped working long before. Go to an auto parts store that offers free testing to make sure it is your alternator before making repairs.

try checking trunk light I serviced a lot of draining battery problems . I had one the other day the customer states every 4 days need jump start . 1st step ck charging system ok , starter draw was good . started to ck all drains all were normal . after dealing with this issue for a month i replaced his battery with a new one he never came back . calls me for reg service . A week cell in battery can pass the test . Hope this helps .

First step have the battery tested, a bad cell can cause a internal drain and kill the battery, if the batt is ok then check for interior lights like visors that stay on or interior light that come on by themselves at night due to defective door switches.

Seen this "mystery drain" many times. Check spark at the battery to see how big the drain is. For this simple test, blow away any (explosive) battery charging fumes. Leave one terminal on and gently touch the other to its post in fairly dark surroundings. Then try it again with the wires taken off the alternator. Your spark is now probably much less. Usually bad diodes leaking electricity backwards through the alternator cause this drain. Replace the alternator or the diode pack inside it. Some mechanics recommend actually measuring the drain.... hahaha. OK whatever.

is your alternator ok.
secondly, to test if there's a drain on the circuit somewhere,switch everything off,
disconect one battery terminal and touch the wire slightly to the terminal. if there's a spark,
then something is draining your battery. (its usually ok for a smallish spark and usually only once)

to test if alternator is ok, rev the car at night with your high beams on. it should be different from
what it looks like when you start it.

CHECK ALTERNATOR OUT PUT SHOULD BE 13.5 VOLTS TO 14.5 VOLTS.IF NOT ALTERNATOR IS NOT CHARGING BATTERY.CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND CHECK ALTERNATOR POSITIVE FEED WIRE AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES.IF ALL IS GOOD ALTERNATOR NEED TESTING AND REPLACED.IF ALTERNATOR GOOD BATTERY CABLES COULD BE OLD CAUSING POOR GROUND AND HIGH RESISTANCE IN POSITIVE CIRCUIT. STARTER SOLENOID FAULTY IF NOT BEEN REPLACED.

have the alternator checked it could test good and still be bad but it can also drain the battery 9 times out of 10 its the alternator thats draining the battery
