SOURCE: canon power shot sx 100 reads card locked

SD Memory cards have a tiny switch on the edge that marks the memory card as read only and prevents any writes. If you get the message "Card locked!" when you turn the camera on then turn the camera off, eject the SD card. With the card facing you (metal contacts facing away) the switch is on the left hand edge, slide towards the top of the card to make the card read/write again.

SOURCE: When I power on the lense cover only partially

The problem could be from simple dust accumulation to a camera drop. If you take it to the service center, it would be an easy fix, and won't cost you much.

There are a few things you can try. Here is an excellent blog about lens errors and stuck lenses, and it covers what can be tried to free it up:

They say about 50% of lens problems can be fixed trying their suggestions. Hope you're one of the lucky ones! Also, if nothing works, get an estimate before having it repaired. Often, it's just better to get another camera.

How do I fix the zoom control on my Canon SX40 HS digital camera after dropping it in the water a couple of months ago?

You'll need a repair I'd think that something has shorted out when immersed in the water. You need to consider the cost of repair against a replacement. A secondhand version of your camera will sell for around $100 New about $275.

Canon sx 200 flash cover sticks

I have had a similar problem with this camera. There is a tiny spring under the cover that could become filthy or corroded due to dust, moist or water. You might be able to see it if you keep the flash cover up while the flash is down. Maybe you could help it by cleaning it with a small piece of cloth or a needle. Don't use any fluids because those will leak into the camera immediately.

I have a Canon Power shot S3 . Can I use a Sigma AF-Mf zoom lens 100-300mm to it. If Yes, what type adapter to use.? I also have a 35-80mm canon lens. can this be used ? Thanks.

Your camera is a fixed lens compact model. You cannot fit other lenses to it unless they are specifically designed as supplementary lenses which screw onto the existing lens filter thread.

There are no adaptors you can safely use either, the only ones would be lens reversing rings which are used to mount lenses backwards for ultra close-up macrophotography, but the weight of the lenses you propose on the end of your existing lens would break your camera.

If you wish to use interchangeable lenses then you need to obtain an SLR or an interchangeable lens rangefinder camera.

I have Quantaray 28-90 mm aspherical lens and want to know what digital bodies it would fit on.

With right adapters it should fit in any camera. At least Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Pentax. The adapters are 10-20$ each and easy to fit in the lense.

Quantaray lenses

I bet they are not AF lenses. There are adapters that add the AF contacts to "fool" the camera but increase the zoom. You can get used lenses from many "on line" camera stores with warranties for a few months.

Protective lense shutter is stuck partially closed, causing black corners in the photos. How do I fix this, or remove the shutter completely?

This blog post outlines repair procedures for stuck lens covers. An A400 is used as an example. But for the A610, you might want to extend your zoom all the way out before removing the camera's batteries. Note that the A610 has four shutter leaves instead of two, so pay particular attention how they're assembled if you remove the lens ring. Also you'll be applying the ring loosening rubbing alcohol around the barrel's perimeter instead of the front as shown in the procedures. One other thing, try not to get any alcohol on the lens itself:

Good luck, and remember to do this only as a very last resort (try the other listed procedures first). Oh, and if you do decide to try the repair, please post how it went.

Purchase Zoom Lenses

Canon currently makes super Telephoto lenses from 300mm to 800mm and a number of zoom Telephoto lenses from 28-300 to 100-400. You can also special order a 1200mm lens from Canon at a cost of $99k! (There are only about 20 such lenses made so far.)

You can also get a 1.4 or 2x teleconverter to further increase the power of a telephoto lens. However, the cameras are unable to auto-focus when the minimum f-stop exceeds f/8, which can happen when you use one (or both) of the teleconverters on these longer lenses, so you have to manually focus the lens.

You can also get telephoto lenses from other manufacturers such as Tamron and Sigma that are built to work with Canon cameras. However, the Canon lenses are generally regarded as the best quality.
