Make sure your wired station is in the same subnet with the Access Point. Use an IP address like 192.168.2.100 then type the 192.168.2.1 into your browser. Afterward set your machine back to using DHCP.

You need a SSID which is different to the original router, so it needs to have one.
But it can be hidden in the configuration, not to be broadcast on the wireless network, so you would have to enter it manually without seeing it in a list.

How set password

You need to download the manual for this Middle East version of the access point/ wireless extender. Page 4 covers resetting the router so a new password can be put in.

I forgot my password

you can reset the router to factory default by pressing the Reset button at the back of EW-7206APg for 15 seconds. This will erase all the setting in EW-7206APg and restore the factory default. after that

Open Internet Explorer, at the address bar, type http://192.168.2.1 and press Enter.
It prompts for username and password.
The default username is admin. The password is 1234. Click on Login. You will get the configuration page of the EW-7206APG.

Ew-7228apn cannot be reset

Press the RESET button and hold it for 20 seconds to reset the access point to factory default settings. The default IP address, admin user name and password are written on the back of the router.

According to the manual (which you can find by doing a search in google for Edimax), the default IP address for the device is
Default IP Address: 192.168.2.1
You can open an internet browser window on the computer that is connected to the WIRED port on the router.
In the browser window, type

http://192.168.2.1 <return>
You should be able to see the screen that is generated from the Edimax and take it from there.
