Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR7646JQ1 Auto Setting Does Not work

Hello All,

I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR7646JQ1 and when set to auto the timer wont advance and it does not heat up, it just sits there and runs. When set in the timed mode the dryer works perfect. I replaced the 4 wire thermostat on the exhaust and this did not help. I also cleaned the vent but no help. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bryan

I have the same problem with my whirlpool LGR5620KQ1 gas dryer. When on auto, the timer doesn't advance and the cloth's do not get dry. It seems to work fine when set to the timer mode.

I am thinking the timer has gone bad, They tend to work in some spots, and not others , when they fail. If you can put the dryer in Auto mode, then nudge the timer until you hear the burner light, see if it continues from there. If it does, chances are pretty good it's the timer.

Whirlpool gas dryer (WGD9450WR1) not drying on auto-cycles

try cleaning the 2 silver senser bars located inside the dryer drum on the door side with isopropyl alcohol and lint free wipes, these bars sense moisture and control timer speed, and when they get coated with the chemicals in dryer sheets they become coated and can no longer sense the damp clothes (these sensers use capacitance to sense moisture)

I have an electric Estate Dryer made by Whirlpool TEDS840PQO. It has "Timed Dry", "No Heat Fluff" and "Auto Sense Drying" settings. On the Auto Sense Drying it has...

Verify that the wrinkle prevent switch is good. If so, the timer is likely the problem. Sometimes the switch contacts inside the timer can be cleaned to restore operation, bit it is a tricky item to disassemble and reassemble.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer keeps running on auto dry setting

When you moved the sensor wire on the moisture sensor may have fallen off.
Remove the front panel and locate the wire and the connection. It will be on the right side near the lint filter vent. If it is still connected your timer has gone bad.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer, LGR5636EQ2, timer not moving on Auto (DryMis

If that is a 3 wire gas assembly then the timer is screwed. The orange wire when removed from the mix will make the thing advance. The trouble is in the timer. If that is a 2 wire gas operator you need to change the high limit and open up the outside vent. My opinion.
