I have exactly the same problem - have tried turning it off then resetting as suggested in the trouble shoot but with no change.

Same problem with my Luxor freeview box. It comes on and says "Please Wait" then after a second "Fail". This happened on the 25th Feb, funny that this has happened to all these bxoes at around the same time. I would be greatful for any ideas or contact numbers, thanks.

Same thing for me. Have had this box since January - used only a handful of times, the rest of the time I've had it on standby. Went to use it tonight, pressed menu, then it failed. Won't come back on. Very disappointed and don't know where to get help online as I can't locate a hompage?

Hi I had the same problem. The answer is to use a scart lead on the freeview box and connect it to the input/output scart on the DVD. Then connect a scart lead from the TV out on the DVD to the TV. You then press Video source on the DVD remote until 'scart' is displayed to pick the freeview channels. Hope that helps

Is your recorder hooked up to the new convert box for digital antenna reception?
I am currently researching the convert boxes for my dvd recorder. I found that some dvd recorders already have digital converter boxes already installed. This might be the case for you.

SOURCE: LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... I can't record digital tv on the dvd recorder coupled with a new philips tv with built in digital

You need a freeview box to connect to the scart INPUT of the DVD recorder. The Freeview box has to have a programmable timer built in. Connect your aerial to the freeview box, the aerial output then goes into the TV. You program the DVD to the times you want to record each program, but always the input is the SCart. You the program the Freeview box to change to the right program at the beginning of the program you want to record.

I have a Pioneer DVR5100H which was set up to record Analogue programs - can I change the set up to accept digital programs. I have tried auto setup but it doesn't pick up any programs?

Hi,

You can't record digital programmes with this recorder unless it is connected to a digital tuner, e.g. a Freeview box or Sky digibox. This recorder has a built in analogue tuner which allows it to record analogue transmissions. Recorders which can record digital transmissions have a built-in digital tuner and usually have a DVB logo (actually looks more like DV3) on the front.

If you want to record digital programmes using this recorder, you need to connect it to a Freeview or Sky digibox, preferably with a scart cable. It is not sufficient to connect it to a TV with a digital tuner or built in Freeview as the player does NOT record directly from the TV, it must be connected directly to the transmission source. A basic stand-alone digital tuner (Freeview box) can be bought for as little as £10-15.

BElectric

I cannot get any tv channels though my panasonic

This model only has an analogue tuner so wont receive anything if the analogue signal in your area has been switched off. either buy a new new with a freeview tuner built in or just use that one in conjunction with a freeview box.

Sony rdr hxd860 recently retuned on 30th sept 2009 as requested now lost program guide. not sure how to get it back

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.

DVD recording.

Sounds like the DVDR is recording from the digi-box through the TV, so when the TV is switched of or into standby the signal is lost, causing the recorder to pause.

Assuming the digi-box has two scart sockets, connect as follows:

  • Scart 1 or TV scart of the digi-box to the TV.
  • Scart 2 or VCR/DVD scart of the digi-box to scart 1 of the DVDR3380.
The TV aerial should already be connected through the digi-box and DVDR3380 to the TV

To record from the digi-box, select AV1 / E1 / EXT1 on the DVDR3380

Can't tune stations from freeview box to DVDR3380/5

You can only record freeview channels through your box.

If you are doing timer recordings, you will also need to leave the freeview box on the channel you wish to record, or set the freeview box timer.
