Question about Singer Sewing Machines
The timing is off on the decorative and zigzag stitches on this machine. I need help adjusting the cam timing without messing up the hook timing (which is ok right now). It seems like the cams are 90 degrees off, but just rotating the cam stack didn't help. There must be somewhere else to adjust them.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. I finally figured out that I had the straight stitch needle plate (the one with the single hole), rather than the zig zag needle plate (the one with the curved hole). When I changed plates, it worked fine.

Turn the dial for stitch length so that the black line that separates the stitch length numbers from the buttonhole functions is in the 12 o'clock position. This engages the gears that operate your red stitches.
