SOURCE: Will not feed paper. HP Photosmart 2575

This is a very common problem. Apparently HP changed the roller because of this fault.
I've tried cleaning, I've tried making the roller rough. I tried to get HP to send me a new roller but they didn't even reply.
HP are a rubbish company who don't care at all about customers (and their printer software (bloatware) is even more rubbish).
BUT - the solution I found:
The spring that holds the roller down onto the paper is too weak. I bent the end of a straightened out paper clip into a small hook then made another hook-like bend a bit further up (but kept the rest of the clip to use like a handle). the length between the two hook parts is just under 1/2 inch. Don't cut it yet - buy you will need to when it's in place.
ad74983.jpg Hold the handle end (the bit at the bottom of this sketch) so you can fiddle about in the small space and don't loose the spring altogether.
Find the spring that fixes onto the roller gadget, it hooks onto the printer body. Hook the spring off the hole in the printer body, and then catch the second (double) hook of the paperclip onto the small printed circuit board just by the roller (most of the board is empty - so hook it to the left end of the board).
Then, when it's all in place cut the rest of the paperclip off.
You can see the double hook part once I'd cut off the "handle" piece in the photo:

0e1481b.jpg and here you can see where the spring used to go, and where it fixes with the clip thingy I made.

Of course this is what I did (when I was about to throw the printer away so it was a last chance survival idea), if you loose the spring, stick it onto something that goes sparky-sparky or otherwise kill the machine or yourself I can't take responsibility!

SOURCE: paper jam without any paper deskjet F370 all in one

Hi there,

Here is the most important thing to understand about paper jams in any printer....

The printer does not know if there is a paper jam anywhere in the printer.

What it does do, is respond to sensors ( optical sensors, either open or closed, by plastic flags). These flags are moved as paper moves through the paper path.

One example of a paper jam message when there is really no paper jam, is when the feed rollers are worn and do not pick up paper from the paper tray.

When you start printing, the printer expects that first sensor to open ( paper passes the sensor ) at a very specific point in time. If the paper did not get picked up from the tray, then the printer will ASSUME that the paper must be jammed somewhere because it did not reach it on time.

Now this will also happen if in fact the paper did get picked up and then jams prior to the sensor.

So... if you get the picture of how this works, understand then too, that if the printer is showing a paper jam message at power on, then one of the flags is open when it should be closed.

If you do not actually have a piece of paper holding this flag in the open position, then the flag is possible broken.

I usually see this kind of damage occur after a true paper jam, where the paper is removed either in the wrong direction ( pulled out back the way it was going instead of the way it should normally travel ), and this breaks the flag, or it was pulled out forcefully again, catching on and damaging the flag.

All of the above pertains to ANY printer, and not just yours. you must take care to fully inspect every inch of the paper path, from the paper tray, to the exit, use a flashlight, and look for the sensors and make sure they are not blocked or broken.

Good luck,

Cory

SOURCE: paper jammed

found the paper stuck inside and pulled it out with a pair of pointy nose pliers, very carfully so as not to rip the paper. I finally pulled straight out.

SOURCE: Paper jam - can't clear error message

Hello Nj,

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} Paper jams are was very common on HP printer model.

Here are few instructions on how to clear the paper jam on your printer.

How to Clear a Paper Jam on an HP Inkjet Printer 1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer before you begin. With the power disconnected, you will protect yourself from being shocked. This is an important step when you are fixing any type of electronic device.
2. Move your printer so that you'll have access the back panel. Unhinge the back access panel of the printer.
3. Look for paper through the opened back panel. Remove any paper you find jammed.
4. Close the back access panel. Make sure that it latches into place and looks the same way it did before you opened it.
5. Open the front or top access panel. This is the panel you use to access ink cartridges. If the carriage that holds the ink cartridges moves, then you forgot to unplug the printer. Go back and do that now. Look for paper that may be jammed in this area of the printer.
6. Remove any paper you find jammed here. There will be resistance from the paper feeder, so pull slowly or the paper will rip and create a more serious problem.
7. Close the front access panel. Make sure that it latches back into place.
8. Plug the printer in and attempt to print again. If you can print successfully, you have removed the paper jam.

Hope this helps.

Paper jamming

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

2575 paper jam

This worked for me. If "Paper Jam" error message continues to appear after jam has been cleared, turn off power to printer. Navigate to Control Panel - Printers, right click on HP Photosmart 2570 series icon, click on Delete on drop down menu. This deletes printer from your system. Turn on power to printer. Printer will re-install (may need original installation disc, may not). "Paper Jam" error message should no longer appear.
