Everthing shut off as if there is no power getting to it.

Bought new in Nov. of '07 and the thing is like it went dead. Can plug anything else into the outlet and there is power. Of course I cant find my manual or anything, is there an internal fuse or reset button or something?

I would suspect the internal fuse, the magnetron TCO (thermostat/thermal cutout) or the oven cavity TCO (thermostat/thermal cutout).

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

To find helpful exploded view diagrams and get part numbers, you can just enter your full model number at the Sears parts site.

But Sears parts can usually be obtained for far less here by entering either the part number.

Accessing some components for testing and possible replacement (such as the oven cavity TCO) will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You may be able to download the installation instructions from the Sears parts site. Just enter your model number there.

On the resulting page, look to the right for the blue "View manuals" button. Click there.

That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they list there are all free, they will ask you to register.

Many times, the owner's manual will have the installation instructions inside.

If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it through the
Sears parts site.

GE oven is completely unresponsive but I have power to the plug that goes to the board. I see no obvious signs of damage, no burnt anything, not even a smell of burnt stuff.

Hi, Did you check the fuses on the stove. If it was built before and after model year 2000 there still should be fuses. If your stove is still under warrenty you may be able to get it fixxed for free. Good luck.

No Power at all

If it came installed in the house, it may have its own breaker switch. I'd check the breaker. Have any outlets in the kitchen gone out as well? This would support the breaker switch idea.

Hope this helps.

I have a danby designer microwave oven modle # DMW753W SIN # 170705120067 the timer keeps beeping and won't keep time. When you try and use it it will not shut off. we got this as a gift for christmas...

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again. If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour.

If you still have trouble, contact Danby Customer Service US / Canada.

Microwave stopped working completely

Fan turned on after cooking because a thermostat got to hot and tripped turning on the fan to try to cool the unit.  The unit went completely dead when thermal fuse tripped which is located above the cavity on the left side.

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the
thermostat to open.

When it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

If it's random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or fuse holder.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body
of the oven.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site,

In the middle of cooking frozen dinner, instant death..

We have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk If the fuse blows a few seconds after you hit START, then it's likely that you have an overheating / shorting high-voltage transformer. Try this: Let the oven set unplugged for about an hour to cool completely. Then cook for a minute at the lowest power level. If it runs any longer than it has been, it's probably the high voltage transformer, which is no longer available, but will run about $95 if you can find new old stock. If the fuse blows as soon as you hit START, then it's likely that you have a shorted high-voltage capacitor (#RC-QZA211WRE0) which runs about $25.
