Hookup Blu ray player to Onkyo pre-amp for speakers

I want to hookup my LG Blu ray player to my Onkyo P301 Pre-amp to be able to use my stereo speakers. I need to use RCA cables because the pre-amp doesn't have HDMI input capability. What kind of cable (2 or 3 male) and what ports do I use on both units?

If you have audio out jacks from your tv, you would be better served hooking that up to the preamp. If you hook up the blu-ray player separately to both the tv and amp, the audio probably will not sync with the video correctly. The tv takes longer to decode the hdmi input and the audio will be ahead.

Unfortunately I don't have audio out ports for RCA jacks on my TV, only HDMI and my stereo doesn't have HDMI capability. Thanks for the help.

Can i connect a seperate power amplifier to my onkyo tx sr608? I have a "pre-out" for my subwoofer hookup, can I use that to go into my amp? I want to power my front main speakers with the more...

Nope, you would need specific pre-outs for external amps for the front channels. That is what the sub pre-out is and a powered sub IS an external amp.

How much bigger an amp were you considering? 100 watts is pretty good and to make an appreciable (audible difference) you might have to double it.

How to hookup 901 BOSE VI W/EQ to receiver (Onkyo TXSR707

Short answer from personal experience.

There is no way around this. Get a separate power amp for the 901's if you want to use them in a multichannel way. Connect the EQ between the pre-outs and the amp input. Run speaker assignment, levels, etc and have fun.

If you don't have the between-speaker room for proper reflection off the front wall you CAN turn them around and you won't believe the amount of air these things push! I have actually felt it ten feet away after explosions or crashing ocean wave sounds. Now THAT is multi-media.

Hookup diagram for Yamaha avr-863 receiver

It's the other way around.

Hook up the Cable box to the Amp; and the blu-ray to the amp, then connect amp to LCD.

you want to use the best available options for audio:
HDMI > Digital Optical > Digital Coax > standard RCA

And the similar for video:
HDMI > Component > SVideo > RCA cables

I would connect Blu-Ray via HDMI to Amp, and Cable box via HDMI to Amp. If your cable box does NOT support HDMI, but you have an HD package, ask your cable company for an upgraded box.

Bose 901 hookup with Onkyo SR 805 and Onkyo M282 amp and 901 EQ/

The good news. I have a setup similar to what I think you're trying to do and it works great!

The Onkyo M-282 stereo amp for the 901's is the perfect solution. Run it with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L&R Pre-Outputs ** and the 901's amp channels.

**Onkyo SR805 Pre-Out Front >>> Bose EQ Amplifer IN
Bose EQ Amplier OUT >>> Onkyo M-282 IN

Set the Input Level on the back of the Onkyo to MAX. The receiver controls everything just fine after you run through your level setup routine again.

I was looking a the 12v triggers on both units and it looks like you only have a Zone 2 trigger so that wouldn't work for turning on your M-282. I guess you're going to have to turn it on and off the old fashioned way, like I do mine.

Cant figure how to hook my stereo up

what to remember is pre-amp is before the amplifier then the amplifier to the speakers, go this route, Tuner for radio? from the radio tuner out go to the pre-amp tuner input, then from the pre-amp OUT go to the AMPLIFIER IN, tuner, cd, dvd, tv, any source, if you are using a 2 channel amp and pre-amp this is relatively easy, a little more detailed for multi-channel pre-amps and amps but follow the same path, sound source signal ie. tuner to pre-amp, pre-amp out to amplifier and speaker hookup to amp channels,

How do i connect my subwoofer to my sony dvd player to get the great surround sound?

there will be a subwoofer pre out( needs to be amplified) or if it don't have subwoofer pre out you will have to send the audio out to a stereo reciever that has inputs for the optical ( digital audio signal )( to a stereo or surround system that has 5.1 or higher has full surround sound ) and of course L and R audio inputs and the subwoofer pre out , then the subwoofer pre out will have to be amplified by a reciever , subwoofer amp , surround sound , ect

P-301 onkyo pre-amp

Hi juicer, If you use the switched outlet, then everything will be turned on/off when you operate the preamp power switch. Use the unswitched, then you have to turn off each unit separately. You choose which one you want. It wont matter.

What connection do you intend to use to connect the LBT zx6 to the Onkyo preamp??
