Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

Where can get or look at an illustrated parts breakdown for HP C6180

I am repairing vs. replacing. Feed rollers are not moving and it's not clear to me that it's mechanical or electrical. Which means I need an electrical schematic as well.

SOURCE: HP C6180 won't turn on

To begin with, try resetting it by following these instructions. If you are using a usb cable, unplug it as well and wait at least a few minutes before reconnecting.
See also here and here. (different) It's possible you have too many devices plugged in and the printer is starved for power, or it's somehow grounding out.
If that doesn't solve the problem, you may find alternative solutions here. or here.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

The printer hardware should even this out when printing. You should also ensure the paper meets the automatic feeder requirements of the printer.
If printing is skewed, feeding multiple pages or jamming, please follow these instructions (use a regular letter size paper to test after doing the steps given below):
Please check to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen. If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer and remove the paper. Open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fan belt. Take the bottom part of that belt and move it gently to the left. The cartridges should come out with it. Make sure the cartridges can move fully from one side of the printer to the other. Check also the output rollers on the bottom of the printer for any blockage. If it is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot. Turn the printer off. Next take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the paper feed slot (The manual paper feed slot is preferred, but the automatic feed will do if there is no manual paper feed for this printer) until it comes completely through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. Move it up and down and slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate this may work it loose or you may have to feed the envelope through the front rollers and push your way backward (please be careful here).
Next, take a damp warm cloth and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder. Dust may be coating the rollers there and as they become less tacky, they cannot feed paper correctly.
Finally, turn the printer upside down and carefully shake it for 10 to 20 seconds to see if something falls out of the paper feed path. Then plug the printer back up, take your paper out and replace it with a fresh, small stack (about 5 pages) of paper. Quickly bend the stack in an 'S' shape a few times to separate pages. Make sure it is lined up on the right side of the paper feed and the paper guide on the left is snug on the left side of the paper. Then try to form feed again. Once its done restart the Printer and try printing and let me know what happens.
Good Luck!!!

Hi, I have a HP Laserjet 6L. I recently made the mistake of pulling a paper jam out incorrectly, I pulled the paper out from the paper feed tray rather than pulling it out from inside once the toner...

One thing pl understand this is old printer, while handling you should be carefully, parts are became delicate because of old age.check that paper pick up roller surface got smoothness or dirty, first clean with wet cloth surface of the roller & check, even its not picking up replace both pickup roller & separation of luck..Vinay.

My hp laserjet 4015 is displaying an error 50.3 after printing smarged copies

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.

The 50.3 is a fuser Temperature error. If your pages have toner and image but are smudging or smearing you know the fuser is not heating and needs to be replaced.

If your printer is still under warranty contact HP Customer Care for warranty replacement of fuser part numbers: RM1-1082 for 110 volt, RM1-1083 for 220 volt. (888) 999-4747.

If your printer is out of warranty, suggest you purchase a maintenance kit part # CB388A HP maintenance kit for LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515, includes other needed high wear parts.

Excellent Illustrations:

Maintenance Kit Contents:

1. What is included in a LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515 maintenance kit?

2. Fuser installation.

3. Transfer roller installation.

4. Cassette feed/pickup rollers.

5. Tray 1 (manual feed) pickup rollers/feed rollers.

6. Reset the maintenance count.

Please rate this solution and post a comment if you need additional assistance.

The paper feed on my hp c6180 all in one photo smart printer does not operate. Top or bottom feeds. I have already checked for paper jams.

This is sort of scenario is usually causedby dust inside the printer. Dust has a way of preventing the sensors fromdetecting paper. Also it prevents the rollers from having a firm grip on thepaper while picking paper. Sometime one side grips well and tries to pick thepaper while the other doesn't resulting in a jammed. I will suggest you get along handle brush and try to reach as far inside the printer as possible andbrush (from the back and front). If you have a blower you may also use it toblow well into the interior of the printer (Ifyou do not have a blower the brushing will still do if you do it well.) This,if properly done should do it. Brush especially the rollers etc. Good luck & God bless!

Feed roller rotates but paper does not move (feed).... I cleaned the roller

Sometimes this can be caused by worn out tyres on the rollers. Like car tyres they wear out over time & become 'slippery' & fail to drag the paper the way they should.

Replacement tyres can be ordered from HP for your specific printer.

It may also be the cogs that turn the rollers, or perhaps the spring load on the paper tray (the part that raises the paper to the rollers). If it's either of those problems, I can only suggest taking it to a printer repair agent or if it's still under warranty, give HP customer support a call.

Hope this helps :)

My HP C6180 sometimes pulls 2 sheets from the ADF instead of 1 at a time when copying multi-paged document.

Get some resin powder ( or similar) rub onto the feed in rollers  they get shiny and don't grip properly. Inkypete

Printer keeps jamming

You can order replacement parts and install them yourself or have a repair printer tech do it. But to save money you can do it.,Photosmart,C6180-All-in-One,Q8181A,Printer,Parts.aspx

I don't have your part number that's on the unit use the link above and put in the right part number. I used Q8181A

What you need is called: HP Printer Belt or Roller: ASSY-PICK ROLLER

Note with heavy printer usage the rollers will wear out quick. If they do the paper will get stuck and jam. In the meantime you can use W40D on the rollers wipe and dry with a cloth that does not have lint. There is a product I use but not so to customer that fixes these problems but it's not the right solution it's better to replace the parts that are bad.
