Hello,

Are you plugging the sub into a 3.5mm jack or USB?
Have you tried to plug the sub into the speaker jack?
The sub works on another computer?

Bad sub or bad jack?

I hope this helps!

    Hi Douglas

  • fadi Jan 23, 2013

actually its a 2.1 system and the which has just one 3.5mm pin for input. The sub does not have a separate input wire. So i am plugging it into the 3.5mm jack of my inspiron 1545 (it has only two 3.5mm jack; one for mic and the other shows the icon of headphones). The sub works on other computers/laptops and when connect to my mobile.

Have you checked the Driver for the Sound card?

  • fadi Jan 24, 2013

yeah, it seems to be the latest one as per dell website R203425 , when i go to the IDT control panel in the laptop and test the setup it does play the bass but the bass sound comes out of the speaker not the subwoofer .. also when i play any music by connecting my external 2.1 system the speakers play the little bass but nothing comes out of the subwoofer ..

Do you have something called "VIA HD audio deck"? Start>Control panel>Hardware and sound. should be last thing on list? OR Start>control panel>hardware and sound>under sound "manage audio devices". click on one from the list and click "configure" you may need to select 5.1 if 2.1 is not on the list. see if this will enble your sub.

  • fadi Jan 25, 2013

hi, i could not find the "VIA HD audio deck" but in the Start>control panel>Sounds and Audio Devices> Audio>Advanced Settings i have already configured speaker system as 5.1 since i could not find the option for 2.1 .. still nothing comes out of the sub :( it's really annoying !!!! i would appreciate if you can help more :)

  • Douglas Jan 25, 2013

I do not know if this will make a difference but lets try. In the same spot where you applied 5.1 (audio tab>advanced) there is the same thing in the "voice tab>advanced" change to 5.1 here also and let me know the results. Also, in the "volume" tab click on "advanced" under "device volume" a window will open. Go to "options>advanced controls" an advanced button will appear click "advanced". Under the other controls section is " 2 Smart 5.1 enable" check it. Also try, under the options menu where you found "advanced controls" is the "Properties" click on "properties". A window will appear, Under the section "show the following volume controls:" click on "subwoofer" to check. OK and close. In the "Front Speaker" window the subwoofer should now be visible to check for volume and mute. Do these and then let me know, if not we will try something else.

  • fadi Jan 26, 2013

hi, i have already enabled the 5.1 option in both audio tab and voice tab but it did not help .. about the second suggestion the "advanced controls" under the "option" is greyed and i cannot click on it .. this could be a problem ? or require some special drivers to enable the option of advanced controls ?

  • fadi Jan 26, 2013

" Also try, under the options menu where you found "advanced controls" is the "Properties" click on "properties". A window will appear, Under the section "show the following volume controls:" click on "subwoofer" to check. OK and close " there is no subwoofer option there .. all i have is volume control, wave, SW Synth, CD Player and PC Speaker

  • Douglas Jan 26, 2013

Hello, Well--if your "option" is greyed and there is no "subwoofer" to "check" then I think that your sound card does not support 2.1, 5.1, or 7.1 thus not supporting a sub woofer. If possible, you will need to get a sound card that supports a subwoofer. Favor, look on your other computers to see if there is a "subwoofer" if there is then it's a good chance that the computer that the sub will not work on needs a different sound card. I hope this helps.

  • fadi Jan 28, 2013

yeah .. that seems like the last option to change the sound card ... lets see :(

SOURCE: Audio do not play

Unplug speaker connection. Go to Control Panel, double-click on "Sounds and Audio Devices" and on "Volume" tab make sure "mute" is not checked and that volume is sufficiently up there. If thats ok select "Sounds" tab and go to "Program events", select any Windows sounds and check to see if you can hear the sound by clicking on the arrow next to it. If you can hear sound its ok so then check your speakers connection to correct sound output jack and that external speaker is powered on.

It sounds like your inverter is going bad. Hook your laptop up to an external monitor. If it works fine on the external then its time to get your inverter replaced. If it doesnt then you have issues with either your video card driver or your motherboard.

It comes on but no base sound and wont turn up

You have to fill in the details about what you're feeding it (the source and how IT's set up). It won't just >>create<< bass.

From the manual:

If you used the high-level (speaker) inputs and there
is no sound from any of the speakers:
• Check that receiver/amplifier is on and a source is playing.
• Check that powered subwoofer is plugged into an active electrical outlet and is switched on.
• Check all wires and connections between
receiver/amplifier and speakers. Make sure all wires
are connected. Make sure none of the speaker wires are
frayed, cut or punctured.
• Review proper operation of your receiver/amplifier.

If there is low (or no) bass output:
• Make sure the connections to the left and right “Speaker
Inputs” have the correct polarity (+ and –).
• Make sure that the subwoofer is plugged into an active electrical outlet and switched on.
• Adjust the crossover point.
• Flip the Phase Control switch to the opposite position.
• If you are using a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver or processor, make sure that the subwoofer adjustments on the receiver/processor are set up correctly.
• Slowly turn the Level Control clockwise until you begin to hear the desired amount of bass.

If you used the line-level inputs and there is no sound
from the subwoofer:
• Check that receiver/amplifier is on and a source is playing.
• Check that powered subwoofer is plugged into an active electrical outlet and is switched on.
• Check all wires and connections between receiver/amplifier and subwoofer. Make sure all wires are connected. Make sure none
of the wires are frayed, cut or punctured.
• Review proper operation of your receiver/amplifier.
• Slowly turn the Level Control clockwise until you begin to hear the desired amount of bass.
• Make sure that you have configured your receiver/processor so that the subwoofer/LFE output is on.
