Question about Dell Inspiron 1545 Notebook
When i connect external speakers/subwoofer to dell inspiron 1545 the subwoofer does not play any bass or sound, the speakers are working fine though. i am using Altec Lansing 2.1 system. I have also tried to connect other sound systems to the laptop but subwoofer for none of them played any sound. However all these systems work fine with other laptops and mobile. i am using windows xp. The sound is IDT High Definition Audio Codec
Are you plugging the sub into a 3.5mm jack or USB?
Have you tried to plug the sub into the speaker jack?
The sub works on another computer?
Bad sub or bad jack?
I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Audio do not play
Unplug speaker connection. Go to Control Panel, double-click on "Sounds and Audio Devices" and on "Volume" tab make sure "mute" is not checked and that volume is sufficiently up there. If thats ok select "Sounds" tab and go to "Program events", select any Windows sounds and check to see if you can hear the sound by clicking on the arrow next to it. If you can hear sound its ok so then check your speakers connection to correct sound output jack and that external speaker is powered on.
