If you can get into windows with only mouse please reinstall drivers for keyboard if not start windows in safe mode (after POST screen keep tapping F8 and select SAFE MODE from menu , or simply hit LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION - it will repair automatically)

SOURCE: what button do i hit to reformatt hardrive on toshiba sattelite p

First do you have all the software CDs that came with your machine, if not you will have to obtain a copy of whatever Windows software you prefer, when you format you lose EVERYTHING, only the BIOS is left.

If thats all ok the go to the bottom of your screen and click on "RUN" a dialog box will appear in this dialog box type in "Format C:/ and follow directions and good luck, you are in for hours and hours of work getting your computer back where you like it again.

SOURCE: my toshiba sattelite pro laptop wont come on as normal

The BIOS password is removed by the BIOS configuration, you need the BIOS password to get into the BIOS configuration. But if you do not have the BIOS password then you need to construct this dongle device.
TOSHIBA BIOS PASSWORD DONGLE
You can build a dongle that plugs into the printer port.Purchase a 25 pin male D sub connector and solder insulated wires to the various pins as listed below. The pins are numbered on the connector
http://www.tilman.de/sonstiges/toshiba/dongle1.jpg this is a picture of the finished dongle

Wire the pins as follows :-1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15
Plug the finished dongle in the printer port and power up the laptop. The password will be reset, go into the BIOS configuration to check the BIOS password, you may have to disable the BIOS password.

SOURCE: i HAVE AN toshiba pro

This is a classic case of windows being bugged on ..and the virus is to blame for stopping (freezing ) ..You need to reinstall the operation system from scratch ..and format the hard disk C drive during this operation ...
To do that you can use the recovery partition if it has one ..just press f12 or f11 (indicated on screen on start 0 and go to boot menu and select the recovery of operation system ..and if it has a recovery partition will reinstall it ..
If you do not have such a partition ..use the recovery disk ..just insert it ..press f12 and choose the boot from cd ..and enter . pay attention cause it will ask you to press any key to continue ..
In case you do not have a recovery disk either..You will need a boot-able disk with the operation system ...and you have to install the operation system the classic way by booting up from the disk ..
let me know if you do not know how to do it ..and I will try to explain and guide you in making such a disk if you don't have it

Letter does not work on keyboard

You can try using compressed air can to clean the keyboard, maybe that will fix it. But if it's caused by wear and tear or you have spilled some liquid on the keyboard, you need to buy a replacement.
A keyboard for your laptop is around 17$ with free shipping:

My fn key wont work on toshiba sattelite pro

FN (Function Key) that is usually located near the bottom left on the keyboard is not a key that you press by itself to do anything. The FN key works in combination with the (F1 thru F12) and any other key that has the same symbol or color as the FN Key. You have to Press and HOLD the FN key while pressing another key.

If the FN key is Blue and for example your F8 key has a (white F8 on it and a Blue battery icon on it) then to see your battery metor (how much charge it has left) you would Press the FN and hold it then press the F8 key. The F8 that is white does not require you to press the Blue FN.

Sometimes the FN key might have a white square on it, then the keys that work with the FN key will also have a symbol with a white square around it.

I need to read the user manual. How do I get it?

Go to toshiba's support site and download the user's guide here

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2682578&rpn=PSK3BU&modelFilter=L670-EZ1710&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768667

if the link doesn't work type http://support.toshiba.com and pick laptop, then sattelite pro and your model number. That will give you a list of downloads available. Pick User's Guide as your catagory and you will find the guide to download,

I have a toshiba sattelite pro whose cursor jumps around the screen when i am typing. is there any way to stop this as it is really annoying?

Either its because you are hitting your touchpad while you are typing, or the little eraser mouse ball thats on the keyboard is faulty. If that is bad, you must replace the keyboard.
