Exactly what parts am I cleaning for a 'carriage jam' on an HP Officejet 7310 printer

the carriage jam error is meaning the path that the printhead is sliding from side to side. You might have a small piece of paper causing an issue.

Where is the carrriage located on my hp 7310 officejet printer?

The carriage is the unit that holds your ink cartridges, usually parked on the right side. When you have carriage stall or carriage jam you usually need to clean the clear plastic strip that runs across behind the carriage assembly, and make sure there are no scraps stopping the travel of the carriage.

My 7310 indicates a carriage jam. I've cleared all paper and verified no loose paper, dust etc is present and it still reads carriage jam. What should I do?

Inside your printer the ink cartridges ride in the carriage. If you look closely, there is a plastic strip just behind the carriage with closely spaced little lines on it. If the strip gets dirty with dust or ink, you may get that error. Gently clean the entire strip with a rag moistened with water. be sure the entire strip is clean. Move the carriage back and forth to get at all of it. Then see if that doesn't work.

Have a HP officejet 7310 with error message that reads "carriage jam" this occured after clearing a paper jam???

You have to make sure you have gotten all the scraps out, and if you put fingerprints on the clear strip behind the carriage, you will need to clean them off with a Q-tip.

Remove the color cartridge. Make sure the contacts in the print carriage are clean. Chek to ensure the contacts on the cartridge are clean. Reinsert cartridge.

HP OfficeJet 7310 All-In-One Carriage Jam

I think you need to clean the back rollers of the printer.

Follow this hp document and it should clear up the issue. The error is for out of paper but the fix is the same. Step four is the one you need.

If you can get the covers off. push down on piece that is blocking the cartridges. Otherwise, it is uneconomical to repair.

Hp Officejet 7310 All-in-one carriage

If the issue is with the carriage chute your printer has an extended warranty and will be replaced by hp if you call in. Please read this document and look at the photos in Step 1.

If not then this is not a user replaceable product and you are looking at paying to have it serviced by hp or replacing the unit altogether.
