1 Answer

I have the Deluxe electric leaf shredder and something has broken in the rotating head that the ties are on and we cannot get the nut off of the top of it and it is clear we are going to have to get rough with it and order more parts, but I do not have a schematic.  how do we get that?

Fellows PS-70 shredder basket ajar light is on

Here is some general advice. Shredders have an interlock to be sure they don't run while the basket is not in place. They don't want you holding the head unit and it starts running and shreds your fingers. So you need to look for the switch that tells the head unit that it is in place over the basket. I'm guessing here but it might be something like a little plastic protrusion that pushes into the head unit to activate a swith. It is possible that the little plastic piece is broken and is not activating the head unit. That would explain why the display thinks that the basket is ajar or misaligned. BE CAREFUL if you tinker with the interlock and be sure it is unplugged!! That is an ORDER!

Tie rods

first remove the cotter pin on top of the castle nut.
remove the nut and throw away.
Next separate the tie rod from the spindle assembly with a fork made to do this. not expensive.
break loose the locking nut with a wrench.
rotate rod and count the number of turns til it is out.
when putting the new one on you might have to use the old lock nut. turn in the same number of turns required to remove the rod.
while down there inspect the idler arm for excessive play these go bad a lot.
Enjoy you car.

Shredder won't shred. can't hear motor in the forward setting only in reverse

Silverfox007:

There is a paper sensor at the throat of the machine that turns the machine on when it is activated by the paper when the paper is inserted. Something has happened to that sensor. Unplug the machine and remove the shredder head from the basket. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws at the bottom of the shredder head and open the shredder head. Look where the paper is fed into the machine and you will see the sensor. It may be unplugged/wire broken/sensor flag broken off... You'll know what to do when you identify the problem.

Broken pull cord

How to replace a broken pull cord on a leaf blower.
1) Remove Hex bolts holding plastic leaf blower housing in place with your hex wrench. you may want to cut the cord with scissors and loosen the bolt or screw securing the rope assemble with hex wrench or screwdriver.
2) Remove spring assembly Carefully. (DO NOT REMOVE THE SPRING ONLY REMOVE THE ASSEMBLY)
3) Remove old cord. Notice the direction the pull cord is wound. This is important in the following step
4) Wind new pull cord in the same direction you removed it, as in step 3, Make sure cord secures in the slot provided on pull and assembly.
5) Replace the pull cord pulley and place over spring.(This is the white plastic spool.)
6) Rotate the pull cord assembly 2 or 3 times in the same direction the cord pulls. (wearing safety goggles and work gloves) Reinsert the center screw by securing in in place with your screwdriver.
7) Insert the leaf blower cord into the end of the handle opening. Secure the handle by tying a knot at the bottom of the new cord.
8) Place the pull cord assembly back onto your blower in its designated area then secure by refastening the 4 hex nuts.
9) Replace the housing cover of blower and refasten the hex nuts.(the housing you removed in step 1.)
I hope this was some help to you. Good luck.

Cutters Seem to be clogged, preventing their rotation. How do I remove the shredder unit from the body so I can clean it out? Is there any solvent or oil that can be used to recondition the unit?

Try removing the waste bin.. inside there are probably about 4 screws which hold the cutting head onto the cabinet...once these are removed the cutting head should lift OFF...turn the shredder head upside down and remove between 4 and 6 screws which hold the top on.

Can anyone give me some instructions to add a leaf spring kit to my 2002 4X4 V6 Ext.Cab Tacoma?

This should be pretty close for you since most add a spring(s) are pretty much the same.

Note: Check U-Bolt length prior to disassembly, Longer U-Bolts may be required.
1. Park the vehicle on flat level ground. Set the emergency brake and block the tires.
2. Raise the vehicle so that the tires slightly touch the ground. Support the frame rails using jack
stands.
3. Remove the U-Bolts from one side only. Remove the spring eye bolts and remove the leaf spring
from the vehicle.
4. Place 2 C-Clamps around the leaf spring as shown in Photo #1. Tighten C-Clamps against the
leaf spring.
5. With C-Clamps tightened onto leaf spring, remove the center tie bolt using a pair of vice grips to
hold the head of the bolt. “Slowly” remove the C-Clamps to release the spring tension.
6. Note the location of the tie bolt hole in the add-a-leaf. If the hole is not centered, measure the factory
spring to determine the long end and short end. Be sure to install the add-a-leaf with the
long end towards the long end of the leaf spring. Install the new add-a-leaf onto the “bottom” of
new leaf spring. If installing more than one leaf per side, install the longest first, then the shortest.
7. Use a screw driver to line up the tie bolt hole in the leaves. It is recommended to leave the screwdriver
in to help keep the leaves aligned as you tighten the C-Clamps. Tighten until there is
enough space to install the new tie bolt. With tie bolt installed, tighten the nut by hand. Then continue
to tighten the C-Clamps. Repeat this process until leaves are pulled together. See diagram
below. DO NOT USE THE TIE BOLT TO PULL THE LEAVES TOGETHER. THIS CAN RESULT
IN AN EXPLOSIVE DISASSEMBLY AND POSSIBLE INJURY!
8. Tighten the center tie bolt to torque specifications provided.
9. Reinstall leaf spring into the vehicle. Install U-bolts. Repeat this process on the opposite side.
Torque Specifications:
3/8” Tie Bolt = 17 Ft. Lbs.
7/16” Tie Bolt = 27 Ft. Lbs.
1/2” Tie Bolt = 41 Ft. Lbs.

Shredder won't grab paper

there has to be something in the path.

once you put the paper in it triggers a sensor that rotates the blades and grabs the paper there is nothing else in between the entrance and the blades. get a flash light and lok in to see what is blocking the path.

unless there are some paper in between the teeth /blades, that need to be cleaned out.

What is a chipper?

Most of our industry refers to chippers or chipper-shredders as pieces of equipment that can handle both wood and leaves. These machines have both a chipping device and a leaf-shredding mechanism. This mechanism is basically a hammer mill, cylinder or drum with a series of pivoting flail-type knives. The chipper-shredder usually is a smaller machine and may include a vacuum to clean up leaves. These machines can be self-propelled or stationary. Most chippers are disc-type, consisting of a large, heavy, rotating disc with knives mounted to it and are for chipping wood only.
