Question about Yahoo Mail

1 Answer

Homepage redirecting on load to other pages

Whenever I open my Yahoo homepage, I get immediately redirected to Entertainment, Sports, or even local news. I've emptied the temp files folder, deleted history and cookies, all to no avail. The problem was happening intermittently, now it is constant. Help!

If you have a Yahoo! account, you have the option of customizing your "My Yahoo!" homepage. My Yahoo! differs from the standard Yahoo! homepage.

On the standard homepage, you can only customize the "My Favorites" area.
When you access My Yahoo!, you can personalize your page so that it features the subject areas that most interest you.

You can also apply a favorite color or theme to the background of the page.
These customizations allow you to have a personalized experience on the Yahoo! website and saves you time by isolating the information that matters most to you.

Visit the Yahoo! homepage and log in using your username and password.
Click on the My Yahoo! link in the upper left area of the page.

Change the appearance of your My Yahoo! page.
Click the "Change Appearance" button that appears in the blue bar in the middle of the screen.

Choose your theme by clicking through the Colors, Textures and other menu items and clicking on the options you like best.

Don't overlook the arrows in the lower right that will let you scroll through additional options.
Once you choose a theme, you can customize that theme and change its layout by using the menu options on the left side of the page.

Click "I'm Done" to save your changes.
Click the "Add Content" button to the left of the "Change Appearance" button.

Use this menu to select the options that you would like to appear on your My Yahoo! page.

Use the "Browse Content" menu to the right to select types of content, such as Entertainment, Money, News or Sports, and peruse the options that appear on the screen.

Use the search module to search for content by name, if you have trouble finding something in the menu.
Click on the "Add" button in the icon for each option that you want to add to your page.

Click "I'm Done" to save your changes. (See Below)

Use the site's "Drag and Drop" functionality to move the content modules where you want them to appear on your page.

Click on the title bar for a content area, hold your mouse button down, and drag the content across the page by moving your mouse.

Release the mouse button to drop the content into place. (See Below)

I wish to keep the yahoo account but I don't want it to show on my home page. Can this be accomplished?

Hi,

When you say homepage I assume you don't want to load yahoo site whenever you open a web browser. TO change your web homepage you need to go to the following:

for Firefox 6.01. (Most likely all firefox ver. are similar)

- Click tools
- Click Options
- Go to General TAB
- type the website you want to be on your homepage at HOME PAGE box or Start page for other version

For Internet explorer 8 (other version are similar but not identical. Just look for tools)
- Click tools
- Click Internet Options
- Go to General TAB
- type the website you want to be on your homepage at HOME PAGE box or Start page for other version

For Google Chrome
- Click the wrench icon on the top right side
- Click options
- Click Basics
- At the HOMEPAGE section type in the website you want to load

Basically thats all. Please note browsers has different version but always look for the tools menu

Hi there, you can always change the settings for homepage/mainpage to your desire.
For Google Chrome browser:
Click the *wrench sign* - located on the right topmost of the page, right after the star. Choose *options* At the *homepage* section, select open this page. Copy this yahoo mail URL: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login - and paste to homepage.
For Mozilla Firefox browser:
If *tools* ( located left topmost of the page) is not showing. Click the *firefox* dropdown menu located ion left topmost of the page then choose *options* - it will open a window, click *General* tab. Copy this yahoo mail URL: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login - paste to *homepage* section, press ok.
If *tools* is showing, click it, the choose *options* - it will open a window, click *General* tab. Copy this yahoo mail URL: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login - paste to *homepage* section, press ok.
For Internet Explorer:
Click *tools* then *Internet Options* - It should open a window, click *General Tab* Copy this yahoo mail URL: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login - paste to *homepage* section, press ok.

My yahoo mail inbox is written in Germany iwant to go back to english

I actually had the same problem, and only just now found out how to fix it (kinda). Just make your homepage us.yahoo.com. It'll go to the normal yahoo site. I think it redirected to the German page with us because they detected that our IP address is German (I don't live in Germany, I think it's a mistake).
So just set your homepage to us.yahoo.com, and you're set.

Yahoo welcome page after closing mail defaults to India

Your browser’s “homepage” is the webpage that you see each time you open a new browser window.
To set Yahoo! as your homepage, follow the instructions for your browser:
If you’re running a browser other than those listed above, refer to your browser's help file for instructions on setting Yahoo! as your homepage.

Redirected from yahoo email

You may have a virus or worm that has infiltrated your network and it is routing you to the google page away from your Yahoo!Mail. I would recommend doing a virus scan on all the computers attached to your network including locking down your firewall on any routers, hubs, switches and on all windows platforms utilized by your computers. Once that is done, proceed with a full network check which you may need to consult a local computer repair company if you are unable to do the network scan yourself.

Yahoo is my home page, but whenever I open it I get redirected to a subsection such as Entertainment or Sports or even Local News. This happens on Firefox and IE. I have tried deleting the temp files,...

Based on your symptoms, I would say that spyware is your problem. Here is a link where you can download a FREE version of a-squared 4. http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

Run the deepscan, which will take quite a while depending on how large your hard drive is. I'm sure that the problem will be resolved.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help and don't forget to rate my assistance. Thanks again for using Fixya.com
