Question about Bosch SHE4AM12UC Dishwasher

Open Question

Bosch dishwasher SHE4AM12UC starts pump out pump runs,1 min later clean lite comes on and unit will not fill and go to wash cycle

Bosch serviceman has changed the main board 3 x and problem persists. Has him baffled too--Bosch tehs tell him to change the board again--doesn't solve the problem. I have been able to "trick" the brain board by opening the door, holding in the start button and closing the door--it may take several attemps at doing this, then the dishwasher fills and runs normally.

SOURCE: I have a SHU43C05UC/22 Bosch Dishwasher. The

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description I'd say the issue is with the control...unfortunately.

The number"1" being displayed ( on models with the display like yours ) is actually an error code indicating a fault in the heating process.

Bosch has had a history of this exact problem I'm about to lay out for you and this is the first thing I'd be looking for if called out to service the unit with the symptoms you've described.

**B/S/H/ also issued a recall on certain models between 1999 - 2006 depending on the serial number so you may want to contact Bosch to inquire if yours is affected.**

http://microsites.boschappliances.com/safetyrecall/dishwasher/

or
Bosch dishwasher hot-line 1-800-856-9226
1-800-856-9226
Before calling, have the model and serial numbers on hand. A live operator can be reached at the hot-line 24/hrs day.

Those not affected by the recall still can be a problem but easily fixed. As I've alluded to the issue is likely within the electronic timer/control, specifically the heater relay solder joint. ( a faulty flow switch, ntc or heater can also cause this, but not very probable ).

My first suggestion would be calling in an authorized bosch service tech. if that is an option for you and your budget however, If you feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself.

It will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board.

dabfa62.jpg

The culprit will 99% of the times be one of the pins from the heater relay,

**Your control WILL differ in appearance, however the issue, the service and all the same info applies...except the part number. Yours will be # 431692**

26052ec.jpg

**Flip this over and inspect the solder joints, it will be obvious when you see it...the cover for your models control comes apart in a similar manner**

This is where and what to look for, except I`ve re-soldered this one already...

face585.jpg

...hence the unit sit`s and takes longer & longer to finish because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed, other-times it will eventually stop or display "1".

You can also run the unit through a regular or econo cycle ...any cycle with the exception of rinse & hold, and with the door panel removed place an ammeter on the gray/black wire it should draw 11 amps during the wash cycle...after it fills and the flow switch indicates it has adequate water to engage the heater.

i.e.

f57273b.jpg
**My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...or it will not last, although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control ( # 431692 @ approx. $150 - $250USD...$167.99 at "searspartsdirect.com" ) and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)**

**Please disconnect the power or turn off the breaker before attempting any service to the dishwasher.**

If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens, to service your machine.

Hope this answer`s your question, let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank`s for visiting "FixYa" for your repair inquiries. Please take a moment and rate this solution to it's helpfulness.

Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

SOURCE: my Bosch dishwasher SHE4AM12UC will start a cycle

This is due to either a problem with your power board, or your drain pump. Check the drain pump impeller to see if there is any debris causing the impeller not to spin freely. You will need to call a service technician to replace the power board located on the right hand side of the machine base. Also check to see if there is a removable plastic peice in the sump by the drain pump. to do this, removie the sump screen (mesh screen in the floor of your dishwasher) by unscrewing it and pulling it up. This plastic peice (called a lid/cover) fits in the bottom by the drain pump. If this has come loose, then it simply place it back in place and it should fix your problem.

the problem you are describing is either related to the drain pump, or Power board. Perform the simple steps described above, or call a repair technician to come and diagnose it for you. If you are handy, you may be able to replace the board yourself.

Bosch classixx dishwasher starts cycle then says " check water" and then seems to do same thing again and again, pumping water in and draining it again

Probably jug impellor part number (424099) from espares, buyspares or bosch direct.
No fix unfortunately, this problem manifests as unit starts to fill and motor does not switch on. Eventually the unit overfills and the pump and fill start to alternate and check water light comes on. If this is the fault then this part is the solution it runs in line with the inlet valve and side fill chamber, take the left side panel off (looking from the front) it is tucked away behind the hoses bottom left (white plastic disc with two wire connection tag). Check water light can also come on if the unit is not pumping, if this is the case, repost and I will try and talk you through clearing this fault.

At start up the machine goes directly to CLEAN after about 2 minutes

Step 1:

Have the same problem with my dishwasher Bosch SHE4AM12UC. Bosch authorized repaiman has been out 3 times and changed main power board module 3 times, on the manufactures recommendation--he's given up fixing it and Bosch won't help either, just tells me to call somebody else on their list and get a second opinion (of course at my expense for labor). Anyway, steps are listed below that have worked for me to keep it limping along until I can get this figured out hoe to fix it.

Step 2:

When you start machine listen for drain pump to start up. Open door and you will hear sucking noise if it is running drain pump.

Step 3:

While you have door open, hold in start button and close door (this may take several times doing this) . Listen for the water to start to fill and wash pump will start (you will hear water spraying around from was arms). Machine will start and run normal cycle once this happens. If you don't hear this within a couple of seconds of procedure above, repeat the sequence until it works. Remember i said it may take 2-3 times to make it go.

Step 4:

Hope this helps. I'll keep trying to figure this out and come up with a solution. Forget trying to get anything done from Bosch or their "authorized" repair people as neither of them have a clue on how to solve the problem.

Hi 2ipnelson,

Very difficult to know for sure which part is not working.

It is best to run the dishwasher in testing / service mode to ascertain which component is not working.

I found a .pdf document that explains the whole process, it should also work for your SHE model.
The link: LINK - CLICK HERE

Follow the steps, and the culprit part should be diagnosed.

Hope this helps :-)

The items in the dishwasher are feeling "gritty" and are not clean at the end of the wash cycle

Remove the filter from the lower front section of the wash tub and clean it out.
Then start a wash cycle with no dishes and no soap.
Once the water fills and starts washing, open the door and pour 1 quart of white vinegar in the wash tub.
Close the door to resume the wash cycle.
Let the machine run a complete cycle to the end to help clean out the water ports.

Bosch dishwasher timer freezing

There is a recall on the control board of many of these models, butyour problem is likely not related. It sounds like a plugged drain system or a possible bad drain pump. That's why you are hearing the pump running constantly. I have written a guide to help. It is here. Thanks!
